SHERLOCK III - A NEW CASE - MAN'S JOURNAL

Hello fellow Crafters,

Here in the Southern Hemisphere, we are now experiencing Autumn, which is such a lovely time to start being creative.
Meg's new collection is to hand and is called 'Sherlock III with Sherlock New Case' and wow so perfect for the special male in your life.

Today for you, I have created a small Man's Journal beginning from scratch as I did not have one on hand.  I cut up some cardboard approx. 6" x 8".  Here are some pics of it coming together.

Now for the good fun, I have made the pages so as to take pics and/or notes.

I made a small paper bag which I inked for some journalling inserts.

Covered the centre strips with book pages and inked to suit.

This collections 'New Case' cut outs are fantastic and great for using in whatever you wish to create.

Here are some closeups of Meg's Garden brass embellishments.

I hope you have enjoyed the journey today and be sure to check out this lovely collection HERE.  Until next time.....happy creating from Liz. :)

A Birthday card from Margaret

Hello Bloggers
Margaret is here today to share her latest project using the Bike Cogs papers:

'Hello everyone and welcome to Meg's Garden.
Today I'd like to share a Birthday Card made with the Bike Cogs Mini Paper Pack.
These papers are awesome and absolutely perfect to create a card for my Grandson's Birthday as his favourite colours are green and black.

So, all the papers used are from this collection, I haven't mixed it with anything else at all.  I have added a bit of doodling and some of that mesh tape that is all the rage at the moment.  I've also lightly brushed some gesso here and there and did a bit of stamping as well.  The cogs border is from Scrapbookncraft and I've added some die cut cogs and gears as well.  Some were cut from black cardstock and some from brown.  Brushed them with Versacolor in Silver and green to give them a bit of a rustic look.

The card style is one I saw at Astrid Maclean's Blog and I've used it quite a bit since, I really love it as it gives you so much  scope for decorating.

Here you can see some of the crackle stamping.  Added some washi tape and wooden hinges  which were coloured with Versacolor 'Lapislazuli' and Kaisercraft 'Red gum'.

The clocks are from Meg's Garden.   I've simply layered them together with an eyelet.  You can also see I've placed some cogs in between the paper layers.

Just a closie of the cogs border ... the black and the white cogs peeking through underneath are all part of the pattern on the papers.

The inside is lined with the same papers and I've added some doodling here as well and brushed on some more gesso.  The quotes are die cuts

Did just a small amount of stencilling on the front of the pocket which was made to hold a small envelope and card.

The envelope will hold a gift voucher or perhaps some cash and the double fold card has a written sentiment inside.

The other inside flap also has some doodling and brushed gesso.

Full view of the inside ...

... and another full frontal view.
These papers are awesome and, although this card is obviously masculine, there are also designs  which could be used in a more feminine creation.  I loved working with them.
Thank you so much for visiting and I hope you enjoyed my Bike Cogs Birthday Card.

Fabulous layouts - well done Annette. Love all the elements you chose; the touch of velvet is awesome & certainly does add a touch of femininity to the layout; love the clocks, gears & rusty additions. Who would have thought that you would have to raid a shed to finish a sublime layout - beautiful.  Love the little yellow rose on the LO.
Hope your ankle is doing well.

Bike Cogs again with Kerry-Jean

Hello Bloggers

I love what is often done with leftover paper & this is the perfect example:

'I had some of the Bike Cogs Mini Pack S121 left over so I put it to good use making this slightly more elaborate masculine card.

The Small rectangular Parisian frame fr005 was painted black and then inked a little with copper and bronze versa ink. I coated it in clear embossing powder and ended up with some great texture and color effect.
I wanted to have a bit  more of a flare to this card  so I cut out the background frame with the Silhouette Cameo and inked the edges. To break to blandness of the center I added a clock face from Old World Time 1037Old World Time 1037 and the metal charm.'

Fabulous card - well done Kerry-Jean.  Fantastic effect on the frame - looks like an old wrought iron piece. The Old World Clock & metal charm in the centre are perfect on the grey & beige background. The layers are gorgeous.

Bike Cogs by Kerry-Jean

Hello Bloggers

We have focused on the Damask Garden papers & have not done very much with the other collection from Denise Boddey - The Bike Cogs Collection.  We correct that with the next 3 blogs.

Kerry-Jean uses the  Bike Cogs Mini Pack S121 to create this Easel card.

'I seem to be drawn to making easel cards, I just love how they display themselves. And being able to get the silhouette with the chippies and the cutouts are great.

Other Products used for this card are

wood embellishment & chippies
flower market embellishment
Tim holtz Film strips'

Loving the easel cards & the way the design hanging off the card in space- well done Kerry-Jean.  The rust colour addition is perfect for these  papers - gives it a lift but also emphasises that cogs are sometimes grungy.

Bye for now
