A Holly card image is my choice for this quick & easy card.
It is mounted on cream cardstock & embellished with a burgundy organza ribbon tied in a bow with long tails. The tails are looped & glued to give depth to the ribbon. Some holly berries & green leaves are the only other embellishment.
The word art is printed on vellum & foam mounted above the berries at an angle. (the foam dot should not be seen like this - should have been further to the corner under a berry)
Two cards using the card paper collection again as well as the
Cut & Creates on the insides of the cards
The white flower is embellished with gold foil; holly berries & leaves are added & a burgundy organza ribbon with satin edges is tied in a bow & the ties are glued & looped to add depth.
This is the inside of the card.
Belly bands in burgundy with gold sparkle ribbon are added to each side. Word Art printed on vellum is added on each band. The Santa image is from the Cut & Creates, the burgundy tag is from the side of a card paper & the cream tag is from the collection.
The 2nd card also uses the Card Paper collection.
This cover really needed no embellishment.
I tied a cream organza ribbon around the centre of the card & had a fluffy bow
On the inside of the card, I did 'some' embellishing - maybe too much. I think I had started a mini album & then changed my mind.
Both sides used a frilly die which I cut on burgundy cardstock & added pearls
The left side of the card used 2 images from the Cut & Create collection; the word art is foam mounted; holly berries & leaves are tucked under the word art.
The right side of the card has a piece from the side of the card paper foam mounted to allow a burgundy tag to insert.
There is a 1/4" spine on the card to allow the foam mounting
Coming up next - some mini books - you know I had to do some of these.
Introducing two new Cut & Create collections designed
specifically for card makers, tag artists & shabby chic journalers. Perfect
for creating during a cold winter, a gorgeous summer, or anytime you want some
very pretty ephemera to start or finish a project with a vintage floral
influence.

2.Watercolour Flowers
High-quality 300dpi, JPG format, 8.3x11" papers
Each paper has 6-8 images approx 2.5x4". 6 papers total
Designed for cardmakers - add laces, ribbons & more flowers. Layer with beautiful backgrounds & foam mount with matching cardstock, or pick up one of the colours in the image.
Also wonderful for shabby chic journals & junk journals.
Create fabulous tags - use an image of your choice & mount with foam tape, add a selection of ribbons, lace & flowers as well as some die cuts & finish with a mounted word
I have been busy posting the Design Team Ladies' projects with this collection & getting the Christmas in Burgundy with Cream collection tied up that I almost forgot to post my own 2 cards & Mini Album.
The digital paper collection is called Lavender with Mint.
This is my first card using the Mint papers.
The front of the card uses a border from 1 of the Mint papers. A die-cut & then a piece of lace is tucked under the border. A die-cut tag from the same green cardstock has been made & it is embellished with paper roses, leaves, a ribbon & pearls. A transparency butterfly & a foam mounted word tag are the final touches.
The inside of the card has a piece of the border cut to make a tuck spot. A tag with a die-cut, pearl & ribbon is tucked in.
A simple card measuring 6" sq could be used for a variety of occasions
It is interesting to see that Trish used the same selected papers - you can see 2 different versions of them - just a fluke. The fronts of the cards use 1 of the papers in the Journal 10x7" collection.
The 1st card has the image fussy cut, inked around the edges & simply attached to the front of the card with a jute twine through the hole in the top of the image. The cardstock is khaki - 2 papers in my stash from forever ago.
Inside the card are 2 ephemera - one being used as a tuck spot.
Jute twine is knotted through a hole punched in the other
This is the other half of the Journal paper.
This one is fussy cut, mounted on ivory cardstock & then onto the khaki one.
The inside of the card is embellished with 2 of the Cut & Creates
Very simple cards which could be embellished further if you wish
After finishing my Nature Album, I decided to do some cards. I do not do them very often but needed to get my feet wet again.
Here are the first 2. Both used 2 of the 10x7" album papers which were cut in half.
The 1st card used an image from the first paper.
The image was inked on the edges - frayed burlap & attached to the cream ivory card. I used a scrap cardstock & cut to fit the image to 4.25" wide x 11.5" high - it opens up. A piece of jute twine was tied across the top & the bird was lacquered.
I always embellish the inside of my cards - this one used 2 ephemera & I die cut a tag. All 3 pieces were inked & 1 ephemera was used as a pocket. The pocket & the tag have also been embellished with the same jute twine.
The 2nd card is also very simple. The green 10x7" paper was cut in half - the 1 piece that had the leaves was used on the front. A piece of green organza ribbon was tied around the fold of the sage cardstock & tied in a knot. The card measures 51/4 x 7.5"
The other half of the 10x7" paper is used on the inside front of the card
A pocket was made from the cardstock; a Cut & Create was tucked into the pocket & a loose knot glued to the front of the pocket
I hope these 2 cards give you some ideas on how the
background album papers 10x7" can be used on cards
The next blog post has 2 more cards from the same collection
I had trouble creating under the shadow of Covid-19
Finally, I decided I was going to win over the virus so I took a piece of cardstock
that was on my work table. found some patterned papers & set to creating.
This is the result:
The cardstock was a cutoff from another project & is pale sage green. It was too long for the paper so I turned it up & created 2 tags to insert & 2 of the word tickets using the same Iris Blue ribbon from the front. The tags are ready for sentiments or further embellishing.
The paper is a page from the Pink & Green Collection. It did not need much embellishing.
Corners rounded, inked on the edges with green ink & before attaching to the front of the card, a piece of 38mm lace was tied around & the tied in a bow. Green paper rose leaves, a blue-mauve paper wild rose & Iris Blue double sided satin ribbon tied in a double bow with the ties flowing over the front of the card.
The card worked & I got into the unfinished journal on my table - you have already seen
the video of that.
Whenever your creativity is stuck on a project, put it aside & start a new & easy art piece - do not start with a blank piece of paper - pick up a beautiful piece & go from there.
Double pages: 10x7" - I chose to cut them in half & use cardstock
Cardstock colours used: Mocha on inside pages of the journal; black for outside
Covers: 5.5" x 7 5/8", spine is 2" x 7 5/8"
There are 2 signatures:
Scores for binding: score 1 at 5 3/16" is 0.75" or 2cm, score 2 is 1.5cm, score 3 is 1.25cm
same for 2nd signature
When you slice into a page for a tuck spot use tape at its edge to stop any tearing.
For inserts & small books, I used cutoff cardstock
Products used: Keys, Faux lock, Vintage trinkets, Natural jute ribbon, jute twine, pen nib,, clock face, tea-dyed vellum & Cut & Creates from the Writing Journal Collection.
The cover features 1 of the papers fussy cut, foam mounted & decorated
A Writing Journal Papers Collection is available either printed or as digital downloads; the Cut & Creates Papers are available as well separately
Lots of ideas used that can be adapted to any kind of journal or junk journal as well as any style of paper art
They are absolutely perfect for quick & easy projects; they make a
very beautiful or fabulous grunge or vintage art piece & can be used to
stand up & display themselves.
Why are they so perfect?
Because Meg’s Garden mini book/junk journal is already made. There
is 1 long piece of paper scored for 6 pages; the paper is 180 gsm so it can take
as many embellishments as you want & the 2 covers are very sturdy 2mm thick
card & just need to be glued or attached to pages 1& 6.No fussy spine, cover, attaching to worry
about. And they make wonderful gifts.
They are also great for using up:
·those fabulousscraps of patterned papers in your stash
·and then you really need to rummage into your stash
If you love to make ‘fat’ books & junk journals with flowers &
leaves, pockets, tuck spots & strips, we have a solution for that – we
modify the accordions.
