The Sherlock Planner 2015 by Watson

Hello creative creatures. I have my official first project for The Sherlock Book by Watson to show you. 

I wanted to make a planner for 2015 and I thought The Sherlock Book would be a great thing to use. I wanted a sturdy cover so I bought a file folder and cut it down to size. This was then covered with a strong craft paper and covered with the kit's cover and then sealed with a varnish. From there I added some Tim Holtz Corners and a bookplate and also one of Meg's lovely Lions Head door knocker charms. 

The inside of the book was a bit tricky as I wanted a lot of pages for the planner.  I ended up having double the pages. This gave me around 36 pages to have in my planner. 12 were turned into a calendar and the rest were added the the divided sections. The back of the pages (because this was a printed kit rather than the download) I inked misted and splodge to add some distressing. 

The ephemera I added here and there to the sections of the planner to later use which they are held in with paper clips. I also used some extra ephemera from the Vintage Ephemera Packs

The closure of the book is really simple, two islet holes on the front and back cover and some twine attached which just get tied together when the planner is in my bag.

Tags for Gentlemen By Kerry-Jean Watson

Hello all you crafters out there.

Today's post features tags created using my new collection The Gentlemen Collection that has been created through Meg's Garden.

 For all of these tags I have used the mini pack papers from the collection for the bases. 

For the first two tags I wanted to go all out with masculine elements and where else do you go for this but to Tim Holtz. I made my selection from Meg's Gardens very own Tim Holtz Studio category. Choosing Mini Gears and Word Brands, Pen Nibs, Film Strip Ribbon and Ornate Plates. I also threw in a few of Finnabair Vintage Trinkets from Prima that I had left over from a previous project. In the background of the first tag you will also see a little bit of a vintage Advert poking out the side, this is from the Transparencies section titled Ink. I really do love using transparencies in my work, as you can see a clock face which comes from Old World Time Transparency as well. The writing ephemera on the second tag is from the Correspondence Cut & Create. The mini bottles are also available from Meg's Garden where she has a good range to choose from.

These next two tags, as you can see, are a bit different from the first. I have fussy cut the image from the mini pack page stuck them down with some foam tape ( which you can't really tell with these photos). Behind the both cut outs I added the lovely vintage ephemera also from the Correspondence Cut & Create. There is another clock face from Old World Time Transparency and some of Tim Holtz Film Strip Ribbon. I added one of Tim Holtz Keyholes on one and a Pen Nib on the other to enhance to whole look. 

For these last two tags I used similar items to the first 4 but added the corrugated cardboard to add some dimension and again I have snuck in another Tim Holtz Plaquettes to add to the grunge look.

Gentleman's Pandora Box by Adriana Bolzon

Hi there everyone, welcome bloggers....

Adriana here today, with a project I created using the wonderful papers from 

"Meg's Garden of Papercraft delight" paper, 

The Gentlemen's Collection, designed by Kerry-Jean Watson.

These papers are great for all your Vintage Projects.

So, as many of you who follow my blog and my

projects, will know that I love vintage and altering things.

I have a collection of old boxes, which are screaming to be

altered to some way, and are too good to throw out.

So, I have created, a "Gentleman's Pandora Box"

a place for a gentleman to collect little things and tokens along his travels. 

There is a little draw at the bottom of this box, so I also

created a very small notebook, which one

can hold photos, a collection of notes and memories.

So, sit back and relax, let me take you all back in time to around 1915, 

a time of simple things, where ladies wore long dresses with petticoats and 

men wore suits with tails and top hats. 

I decorated the outside as well as the inside of the box 

with The Gentlemen's Collection papers.

I lightly painted a little gesso on the metal elements to

make them look older.

Now I chose not to decorate the outside too much,

because these papers are so wonderful as they.

They have textured finishes, which is great.

I just inked around the edges to hide any white bits.

I decorated the lid and compartments.

Here I decorated it with washi tape,

Now I want to show you what the box looked like before

I altered it. It was very blue and has a lid that lifts off, 

I think it was a jewel box.

It has little compartments inside and a little secret draw on the bottom.

Inside the lid. I altered all the metal cogs with
distress paints and ink.
Making them look very old and rusty.

The little draw pulls out to reveal a mini notebook inside
which I also created with The Gentlemen's Collection,

a little compass, some coins and metal keys...

Vintage Layout from Heather

'Hi everyone ,

Today I decided to go Vintage , creating a layout with the ‘Top hat & Automobile Collection. These magnificent new papers are perfect for Vintage / distressed/and grunge art.

I discovered this old postcard, which I felt was just perfect for this layout. I wanted to create an impression of an envelope, with oodles of stamping and an old grungy /messy background suggesting age and days gone by.

Women would gather together for afternoon tea and support each other.

The fashions back then have always fascinated me with such amazing detail. Although quite impractical, still very beautiful with delicate hand crafted lace and the hairstyles of the day were beautifully exquisite.

A little bit of trivia about me :

As part of our hairdressing registration exams we were required to reproduce a Vintage hairstyle, and I truly adored creating from this era . I have always loved detail, and I guess I intuitively transferred my love of detail from my hairdressing days into my scrapbooking !!   he he he !!

This vintage distressed clock fitted in perfectly with my theme, mimicking the time and the layers of that era.  I altered the Tim Holtz metal frame with gesso and paint, and stacked it over the clock element.

Again I distressed the papers and layered the diecuts to create dimension and interest . 

 Another layered cluster with papers, diecuts, chipboard, finished off with a metal brad .

What a fabulous LO - well done Heather. The flap at the top with a die cut makes me want to open up the LO & get more!!  The multiple layers are awesome with their tears & the die cuts terrific.  Totally fabulous but what else did I expect.  I think my favourite element is the Ornate plate on top of the Old World clock.  The music washi tape adds just a hint of frivolity.
