Anzac Heritage Layout by Sue Smyth

Anzac Heritage Layout
By Sue Smyth

Hello Crafters
Today I am sharing a Heritage layout

The Gentlemans collection is so suitable for all those heritage Masculine
pages that everyone puts off doing.
This is a photo of my Great Grandfather, when he was young and handsome,
I knew him well as he lived to 84.
He was mischievous and adventurous and had a great spirit survived
the war and married his sweetheart not long after this
photo was taken.

To create the poppies simply spray flowers with red dylusions,
no need for glitter or anything else !

Fussy cut elements, combine with metal fasteners, fibres and
trinkets to create an old world feel.

I have rolled back the edges of the paper, to cover
the white area on the back of the paper, I have
stamped an all over patterned stamp with sepia
ink.

Fussy cut Hot Air Balloons, ink edges and
cup them with a mouse pad and stylus.

Attach Balloons with 3 D foam tape to give
a wonderful shaped dimensional look.

Home Canvas Set by Nicole Doiron

Hello everyone at Meg's Garden!

Nicole here, and I am thrilled to be sharing with you this very special project
created with some beautiful Meg's Garden products.

Home Canvas Set

I made this canvas set as a special order from a neighbour who wanted to offer it as a gift to her brother.  She had a lot of old and new pictures as keepsakes of her brother's life.

I immediately thought that the Meg's Garden Correspondence collection would be perfect
to document all these treasured memories from the past and present.

The first and main canvas measures 12" x 12", featuring the most recent pictures of the man's life.

Large Canvas

I used a mixture of papers from both the Correspondence and Gentleman collections, many embellishments available on the Meg's Garden website as well as lots of 2Crafty chipboard.
All papers were distressed and misted with various color inks to give the canvases a more aged look.

The big Moonlight fabric flower seen above was a perfect focal point for the flower cluster
on the large canvas as it is quite large itself, measuring at 11cm diameter.
I gave it a more antique look by dabbing brown ink on it followed by white paint.
The Puffy Paper Flowers were just as perfect, being that they're very thick and ideal for giving added dimension and relief to such a project.

Adding a strip of Burlap Trim covered by the Watchband Silver Trim
gave just the right amount of antique and at the same time pizzazz to my canvases.

You can see here a close-up of the mixed media techniques I used on my canvas.  I started off adding layers of the beautiful Meg's Garden papers.  I then used a stencil with molding paste to add texture and then went crazy with the mists and white paint for whitewashing.

More close-ups of the details...

And finally a sideways look to show you the depth of the canvas.

Each side canvas I used to document the earlier memories and older pictures
measure 15" x 6" approximately and were less deep.

Small Canvas 1

Small Canvas 2

I added some several family-themed quotes that I already had in my stash.

I also added a few pieces of the Round Silver Diamante Trim with a brown gem inside each centre.

Below you see a chipboard keyhole that I covered with gesso,
glimmer mists and paint to give it an old rusted look.

Wanting to keep the same look constant across the 3 canvases, I put smaller flower clusters on each smaller canvas along with butterflies from the Butterflies Collage Art ATC Paper.

One last look at some precious childhood memories...

My neighbour was very happy with the finished result and I can say that I made her shed a few tears.
She couldn't believe the finite details that I added and the amount of beautiful flowers and products used.
She had never seen scrapbooking done this way before.

I told her that it was thanks to Meg's Garden!

Thank you for joining me on this DT reveal.

Correspondence card

Hello Bloggers:

Kerry-Jean shares a card using the Correspondence Collection of papers:

I love using the new collection "Correspondence" for cards. Especially with the Butterfly Oval Laser cut frames which I coated in bronze embossing powder and the ever so pretty Gardenia flowers and paper Roses. The leaves are those delicate skeletal leaves which are quite stunning with these papers. I wanted to use the Sage Burlap ribbon to just break up the background and to add some more texture to the card. I just love those Tim Holtz Word Bands which fitted really well. I was going to add some butterflies however I went with the White and Grey Pearl Vintage Brads.  The paper doily is one of my own however there are some wonderful ones over on the Meg's Garden Store.

Fabulous card - well done Kerry-Jean. The embellishments used are perfect for your card background - just enough colour.

Bye for now
