Creative Cards #1

Hello Bloggers

Card #1 - The focus is on the inside

The green card is fairly simple on the front.  The green cardstock is folded in half. A piece of florist ribbon is folded down the side 1.5cm from the edge; a Green Mauve Delphinium #40200  is added & a vintage trinket cut in half with a small piece of dodo vine tucked in for interest.

The green bead is to lead the recipient into the card.

The inside of the card is where the interest is.  The same green florist ribbon continues down the inside; a Vintage beauty is tucked into the ribbon along with a tag which is ready for journaling.  The other inside of the card has some ephemera as well as another tag for journaling.  Once the tags are journaled they can be attached.  The patterned papers used on the background are from the White Flowers on Green Paper Collection.

Vintage trinkets with a small pearl have been added for more interest

Card #2 - Focus is on the Front of the Card

Same papers, florist ribbon & Delphinium flower as Card #1; different ephemera, white cardstock as a base (could use green or cream),  skeleton leaves, fleur de lys vintage trinket to coalate with the French ephemera & a piece of green skeleton ribbon (folded in half) is placed on top of the florist ribbon.  The inside is plain with a simple ribbon as a pocket for the journaling tags

Hope these cards give you some ideas

Gather Your Dreams mini book from Meg

Hello Bloggers

I finally finished this book. It sat on my project table while I had thoracic surgery;  it sat again patiently while I semi recovered; the book itself wondered if it would ever get finished.
But I had to - other projects to start & complete. Like Christmas papers, a Christmas mini book in traditional reds & greens, a Victorian Christmas mini book, lacy Victorian ornaments, some new Australiana papers, new mini papers with ephemera project & more....

I used the 3 pale lavender papers on the cover, back & spine matted in a deeper lavender cardstock.  The cover was kept fairly plain with lilac velvet violas & leaves & some pearl sprays on the front.  No decoration was done on the back cover or spine but both were matted to match.

Then the 2 green pages were used. The inside cover has a pocket with ephemera, and its opposite page embellished with a simple transparent butterfly with its wings lifted.

Pages 3 & 4 were chosen to go together - page 3 has a brass bee with its wings lifted, a beaded pin, ribbon & paper flowers. Words were also added. Page 4 has a transparent butterfly

Page 5 uses the French writing paper with an envelope pocket to hide secret dreams. Page 6 has a beautiful Vintage lady, double matted & embellished with brass corners.

Pages 7 & 8 use the gorgeous pink papers with paper flowers, travel charms & Journey to France Rubber Stamp Collection - the theme being Dreaming of travel to Paris & France.

Page 9 is left as it is.

Page 10 is a lift out with the ribbon pull on the side & uses the 5 blue/green papers.

The inside of the pullout is embellished with paper flowers & leaves, has room for listing your dreams on the one page & also on the tags in the bottom pocket

Opposite the back of the pull out is a cabinet card ephemera made into a small folder & embellished inside with some of the ephemera in the pack.

Over the page, I have used a page from an old French book, tucked into a mini

square lace doily with ephemera. Wanted a little bit of very vintage here; also as a break before the last pullout  of the book.

This pullout, with the ribbon  tab, uses the 4 Mulberry papers.

Inside the pullout - on one side there is a round doily pocket with ephemera tucked in & embellished with a musical charm

The other side has a pocket down the side with tags to use for your dreams.

This  is the back of the pullout - the 2 pages allow plenty of space to list dreams.  The 2nd page is the inside back cover or the book

Hope this gives you some more ideas on how to use the Gather Your Dreams mini book kit which is available as a printed product or you can download & print it yourself.

Dimensions:
patterned pages in book kit  4.75 x 7.5"
cardstock for pages  5 x 7.75"
cover - cardstock & cardboard  5.25 x 8"
(matt - 5x7.75")

I use the Stack the Deck method: flaps 7.75" & spine 2.5"

Damask Garden card from Kerry-Jean

Hello Bloggers

Kerry-Jean continues with our  The Damask Garden Collection promotion.

'This has to be one of my favorite cards so far this year.

for my patterned paper and cut out the one of the pretty labels on the one paper in the collection. I also incorporated a piece of  French Writing Ephemera 3377 and More Butterflies Tr004 in the card.

I painted one of the Butterfly oval laser frame fr003 cream and inked the edges to age the frame a little bit. I also cut a pretty frame design on my Silhouette Cameo to put behind the frame.

Small Latte Paper Roses latte roses are a basic addition to the composition but I highlighted the with the Green paper leaves - sm gr leaves sm and added those very pretty Vintaj Woodland Leaf Charm p275 for a little bit of exquisite.

I added the Coffee Burlap/Jute 38mm burco to break up with intense green in the background.

Beautiful card Kerry-Jean - well done.  Love all the layers, the 2  frames and the embellishments used.  The butterflies flittering on the card give it an ethereal effect; the woodland charms add another texture as does the burlap ribbon.  The dodo vine curls enhance the paper flower posies nicely with the gorgeous distressing around the edge.

A Heritage Picnic from Kerry-Jean

Hello Bloggers

Kerry-Jean takes us on a Heritage Picnic
'I really wanted to work with the "Top Hat & Automobiles Collection" from Meg's Garden, I just had to find a suitable photo for the layout. I started going through photos of my grandparents from when they were young, the 1920/1930 and came across some pictures of a picnic.

I felt the photo complimented the paper collection perfectly, especially that sepia tone. I used the Take a Roadster for a Spin P6357 page and fell in love with those floral arrangements on the edges. I wanted to extend that motif through the layout, so using some of Meg's Small White paper Roses I sprayed some of them a lovely deep red and worked out the arrangement with those gorgeous Green Paper Leaves that I bent and tweaked a little to give a more natural look.

I used the transparency Butterflies Tr015  and Old World Time TransparencyTr1037 also which I think are just fantastic to use. The tags used in behind the photo are from the Vintage Ornate Tags 1036  and Vintage Tags 1031. Some really great new papers are the French Ephemera Pack S130 which the music sheet is from.

I feel I captured a wonderful moment of my grandparents life 50 years before I was even born.'

This is so fantastic - well done Kerry-Jean. Love the layering & all the elements. The painted red roses really pull it all together. The photo of your grandparents is terrific.
