Take Flight Everyday

Hello everyone...

I have been working on a few things for Meg's Garden recently and love working with her products.

Using the French Chic range with the Card Artists' Packs/Mini Papers, I have made a few more cards.

First card, using French Chic Card Artist Pk 1

My cards are simple, trying to make the most of the pattern paper from Meg's design because they are so beautiful and could be a card on its own. 

I have used Meg's rose satin seamed ribbon, a Pink & White Apple Blossom Flower and the pearl trim looped under the flower.  I didn't want to lose the butterfly behind the ribbon so I cut around the wing to lift it up on top of the ribbon.  And I used the sentiment 'Take Flight Everyday' to finish the card.  My photo is very light, so the dusky pink is more like the image above.

My next card uses the French Chic Card Artist Pk 2

I have used the oval frame of the patterned paper to guide my card here and I love how it's turned out,

 I have used a cream satin seamed ribbon along with the pearl trim to make a layered bow on an oval chipboard frame that I inked black with a stamped image of a silhouette portrait inside. The paper was a perfect frame for this simple design.  It's a card that is suitable for any occasion.

My final card, was using the candy striped PP from French Chic Card Artist Pk 1

I wanted to show the flowers in this background paper so I turned the paper horizontally...

I braided 3 coloured, 3mm satin ribbons, that matched the pattern paper, on top I used a pink rue flower with stamens with a simple Hello clear sticker and it's another simple card that shows off Meg's paper.

Rose Quartz Card Duo

Hello everyone, it's Patti here with a card duo for you today.  I've taken pieces from the new Meg's Garden Rose Quartz Papercrafter and Cardmaker collections to create two cards for you.  Both will be shared, start to finish, on the video so I do hope you join me there.  All supplies will be listed directly below the video.

My first card is this gorgeous lady fussy cut from the Meg's Garden Rose Quartz Papercrafter collection.  I removed the middle from a paper doily and arched a section of it behind and in front of her on the left side.  Adding a piece of crocheted lace, with a pink ribbon woven through, across the bottom.

In her hair I've attached one of the pink antique brads.  These cards are 5" x 7' and have been built upon a white card base (Spellbinders Celebra'tions Whirl White cardstock).

To finish this card I wove two of the pieces I'd fussy cut from the paper together. I also backed them with pink to create just a tiny border around each.  I placed the cluster in the lower left.

The second card is the same size and has the same white card base.  For this one I focused on a middle cluster strip.  This consists of a strip of paper doily on the right, a folded piece of the antique pink lace on the left with a strip from the paper atop both in the middle.  I completed the cluster with a spray of the flowers, again fussy cut and backed with pink.  Tucked behind is a pearl spray, also from Meg's Garden store.  

To give the front a little pop I took a piece of the pink/brown ribbon and tied it into a small bow placing it atop my front sentiment.  The sentiments are from JustRite Stampers Sympathy Handwritten Sentiments.  

Here is the inside sentiment, again from the JustRite Stampers collection.  I cut the mat to house the sentiment from Spellbinders Nestabilites Decorative Accents Labels Forty-One.  I actually had to do this because I had first stamped directly to the paper and the impression was scattered, it didn't stamp well in some spots.  I restamped and die cut it and placed it atop the first impression.  Problem solved and the bottom mat saved.

a French Garden Mini Album

Hi everyone, Patti here, sharing my newest mini album using the stunning new collection, The French Garden, designed exclusively for Meg's Garden

I created this book using chipboard for the covers and spine, covered with white cardstock (which I mod-podged several times for stability) and covered with decorative papers from the collection.  I added a selection of flowers and elements from the store for the front cover. There are six pages each with an outer pocket on the right side.  The outside measures 8" square with a 3" spine and the pages are slightly smaller. 

I used my decorative scallop corner chomper on all the pages. After fussy cutting around the chair above & backing it with some solid pink cardstock I adhered it to the inside front cover forming a nice tuck in pocket to accommodate this oversized mat and several smaller ones. The opposite page has a horizontal belly band with a decorative half circle stopper on the bottom.  The stoppers are nice to use with the bands to stop the mats from slipping out of the book.

Incorporating the decorative lace frame from my stash creates the perfect spot for a special photo.  The pink back acts as a place-card for the photo and helps the owner determine the best sized photo to slip inside.  The acetate butterfly is attached with a thin strip cut from the sheet, glued to the back of the butterfly and tucked behind the flower. When the page is opened the butterfly flutters about and closes without harm as the page is turned or the book shut.

More fussy cutting on both pages, this collection just lends itself to trimming to show off all the gorgeous flowers and elements.  Here I've stretched the buds of the flowers from the one page to the other to tie the two together.  The frame on the right has acetate (from a recycled embellishment folder) to slip the photo behind.

This page pops by using black mats to contrast with the pink.  The ornate frame has been colored with Silk Acrylic Glaze in Grapefruit thinned with Matte Medium.  On the right I've again fussy cut the flowers and tucked the mats behind.

As a crafter you know the album is made to house photos and memories and as a lover of gorgeous decorative papers you sometimes find it hard to cover everything up! Here I accomplished both by creating a waterfall of twelve pages housing 24 photos up to 3" x 5" and left the gorgeous paper speak for itself on the right.  There's lots of room below the birdhouse to add a special photo and tuck a note behind.

I found a Kaisercraft wooden birdhouse in my stash and painted it with that same Grapefruit Silk glaze, added some pearls for the hanger and decoration and tucked my mats behind.  It's hard for you to see here but the video will give a much better perspective of the corners on the page on the right.  After I had matted my cardstock I cut out the corner with the same paper and placed it over top to create a tuck in pocket and added a flower on the bottom edge to create the adjacent lower pocket.  

The last page and back cover share these luscious greens from the collection.  Again fussy cutting around the bird bath to create a pocket and placing a doily behind a die cut to form a frame.  Adding a couple more of these acrylic butterflies just finishes the pages.

Vintage Girls File Folder Mini

Hello everyone, Patti here from the USA, this is my first blog post for Meg's Garden and I must say how happy I am to be a part of this team.  For my first project I had anticipated making a set of note cards until I received my package.  Once items were in hand I changed it to a File Folder mini album.  I love making mini's and have seen so many tutorials floating around YouTube the last few weeks I thought I'd make one to share with you.  

I fell in love with the Vintage French Girls and wanted to incorporate them within the pages of the mini.  As I said the construction was done with 1 1/2 manila file folders cut, folded and glued to form pockets and pages.  You can see from the photo above I had a fabulous time using all sorts of bits from Meg's package.  I used the pearl sprays and my favorite flowers, the Carabella Rose Posy in Fairy pink, oh how I love these flowers.  I dyed the seam binding and the lace to match the papers and embellishments and to finish off the front.

Throughout the book I used The Gentlemen's Collection and The Correspondence Collection designed by the talented Kerry-Jean Watson for all pages, mats and tags.  The girls became a focal point on each page.  Using the scraps from the file folders I made tags and supports for the backs of my pockets.  You can see I've matted and fussy cut the girls to form pockets for the photo mats.  I also created a top pocket which has a post card.  All papers are highly distressed using Tim Holtz Distress inks in Gathered Twig and Tattered Rose.

I must confess when I first started the mini I intended on just using The Correspondence Collection but as I got started I saw how easy it was to interchange the papers and elements, like the clock above (which is part of the Ephemera Cut & Create paper), with The Gentlemen's Collection as well.

I loved how these pages turned out.  By using the little tiny girls (which are included on the included bonus strip) I created tiny postage stamps which I grouped together and double mounted to form the pocket for the tickets.  Creating an angle pocket draws the interest to the opposite page where the pocket holds a tiny booklet for three 3"x5" photos.

This is probably my most favorite page, I'm sure because I love this sleeping little cherub.  I backed her for support and then cut around her body to form the pocket for another tri-fold photo booklet.  There are several pages I haven't shown which will be included in the walk through on my video below, along with many more photos to give you ideas and inspiration to create your own mini.
