Hello Crafters,
Mary here with another layout using the Sherlock Holmes 111 A New Case Range, I have really enjoyed creating with this range.

This is a photo of my cousins both now in their eighties and nineties respectively . The young girl is also my Godmother.

I love this Die from Megs Store and I think it is perfect to continue the foliage in the photo . Behind my photo I have used the 4 x 12 strips of pp that come with the 12" PP and cut it in strips to mat the photo. I've added Dodo Vine and mesh ribbon beneath the die cuts and added jute twine and a little antique chess key .
For my sentiment "smile" from the cut and create sheet I highlighted the word with distress ink and stapled it along with Gold Skeleton Mesh webbing  to a ticket stub , also fussy cut from the cut and create sheet.

Getting in gear for a new case.

Hello everyone,
I have a new layout to share with you today. I have used the Sherlock lll A New Case 12"x12" patterned papers, the cut & create sheets & corrugated cardboard to create my vintage grunge style page.

I have used the following products:-

I have used lots of metal charms & some ribbon, jute twin, mesh trim, products available form Meg's Garden Online Store.

THE FRUIT PICKER ~ SHERLOCK 111 A NEW CASE

Mary here to share another layout using the Sherlock 111 A New Case Range. I have really enjoyed creating with this range. I create this layout for a challenge where the Criteria was "Country" and this is what I created

The Fruit Picker

I enjoyed playing with texture paste and mists , stamps , die cuts , Mesh ribbon and jute with this layout . I've also added a hot air balloon charm and bee charm to the layout

I have also layered the strip filigree over the round filigree and added some Jute Twine and gold colour paste . The PP layered under my photo of one of my Mothers brothers is from the 4 x 12" strip that comes with the 12 x 12 papers. Under the papers I have used staples to adher the mesh and jute ribbons.
The die cut I have used is Megs Store .

One Paper Torn in Half

I took 1 piece of paper from the Shabby Chic Backgrounds Collection Card Artist Pack & tore it in half & decided to make 2 cards in totally different styles - 1 Shabby Chic & the other Slightly Grunge.  Did not think it would work BUT ...

This is the paper I chose - the Music paper

Here are the 2 cards:

1.  Shabby Chic Style

The cardstock chosen was a deep rose colour from my stash (sorry no source colour available)

I used a round doily background & layered the torn half of the music paper - this was distressed, inked & the edges curled. The pink edges were from my blusher brush

 The embellishments include a Pink Wild Rose, 2 White Paper Lilies, 1 Cherry Blossom with tinted pink edges & a Small White Paper Flower surrounded by a diecut flower with pinked edges (m356 open roses) as well as 3 paper leaves.  The pink die cut with a pearl highlight is from diecut Carousel m392.

There is no inside deco on this card since I had a slight woopsie with a bottle of glue which glued the card together.

2.  Grunge/Slightly Grunge/Masculine

The other half of the Music paper.   I was quite amazed by the results of my experiment using the 1 paper with 2 totally different styles.

The edges are distressed more than the first card, inked with frayed burlap & the corners curled. Cardstock was a light brown taupe & the layer was a scrap from old papers. The jute string was tied around the brown cardstock & the black diecut (Large Gears m277) was tucked behind before mounting on the card of ivory cardstock.  

 A Cut & Create Ephemera was foam mounted & a skeleton leaf tucked behind it. The other black diecut is from die Scribbles & Scrap m3130.

Inside the card are more scraps.  The brown/taupe cardstock creates a spot to slide a scrap of the patterned paper embellished with a vintage trinket. 

The other inside has more scraps of cardstock & cut & create pieces.

The black die cut is from the same die used on the front - Scribbles & Splat (I think this is the splat) m3130. This is a great & fun die. Some more jute string to carry the design through the card

It was fun doing this experiment which I did not think would work - I challenge you to try it.

Alchemy 101 Mini Album

When I picked up the printed papers at the print shop, the Alchemy 101 Book Papers went straight to my craft table to wait for time to play.

A Chocolate Brown cardstock was decided on instead of my normal black for grungy albums & in some areas I used black & ivory cardstock as accents.  I had some hessian leftover from a gift - I intended to make this as a rounded spine. A few vintage trinkets & charms were chosen & put in a dish.  I pulled the Camel Mesh, Natural Jute, Jute Twine rolls & got started.

I used several ways to add to pages in this album.

By the time I was finished it was very fat & then need a ribbon to close. There are 2 double pages; the camel mesh ribbon is used throughout as a pocket; there are lots of other pockets, a section for journaling or an area for a map or docs or ??,  several little books closed with magnets are used and the most important thing - I had fun.

Creative Cards #3

I strayed away from vintage, flowers & shabby chic & dived into the grunge category & actually had fun. The Slightly Grunge Paper Collection was used on all 3 cards

Card #1

Materials used:
Black cardstock with a group of ephemera from several collections, a clock charm,
 tag tied with jute string - no inside deco done, Frayed Burlap distress  ink
Lots of foam mounts on all cards

Card #2

Materials used:

Black & cream cardstock

Slightly Grunge Paper Collection

Jute string

Scraps of burlap

Ephemera from several collections

The Slightly Grunge paper was distressed & Frayed Burlap distress ink used on the edges

The ephemera were tucked into a vintage envelope which was slit

Inside of card: Lt - Tags, ephemera, burlap, a chinese charm

                        Rt - tags, ephemera, postcard, vintage trinket

Card #3

Materials used:

Black, chocolate & cream cardstock

Chinese coins, key, hot air balloon & cogs charms

Coffee 38mm mesh, Jute twine

2 layers of Slightly grunge paper - 1 between black & chocolate cardstock, the other on top

 Inside the card - on the left the coffee jute is wrapped around from the front & added to the top of the pocket on the right side

 The little book has 2 areas on its front for tucking in tags, ephemera & journaling

inside the book is room for pics or journaling

 The other side has a pocket for tags & journaling

 I call this gentlemen Great Uncle Henry - but it is simply a postcard I purchased at an antique shop

Sherlock Journal Vol. II mini album

I'm not usually fond of grunge creating so it was with some concern that I took the latest paper collection -Sherlock Journal Vol. II - to my craft table.  I am much more comfortable with shabby chic - grab some ribbons, flowers, lace & pearls & have fun.

But I have had many requests for some more Sherlock so here is my attempt.

The paper collection pages are each 5x7.5".  I used black cardstock for all pages including the cover & spine.  You could also use kraft, cream, grey or dark brown depending on the look you want to achieve or your style of art.

The individual black cardstock pages for the inside of the journal are 10.5x7.5" with a 2/8 " gusset down the centre of each one.  The individual pages were cut since I wanted to do embellishing & have many pockets for journaling, photos & embellishing.  The 2.8" gusset was glued to the inside of the spine so that the pages would lie flat.

Using this style of page I then had 4 pages on each one - front, back & the 2 insides.

The cover is 6x8" with a 3" spine - chipboard for all 3 pieces & then covered with black cardstock - if you want to cover the corners you will need to add to this measurement. 

The front cover has kraft cardstock & one of the paper covers - both are distressed & torn.

Embellishments include vintage filigree corners, a knob, & a key tied to the knob with jute twine.  The other embellishments are from the ephemera papers attached with foam tape.

Inside the cover - a piece of the other cover paper.  Front of page 1:  The post card is attached on 1 side only so that pics, notes etc can be inserted.

Inside page 1: - ephemera from the sheets, vintage trinkets, a clock charm & tags tucked behind the 'ART' ephemera.  The majority of the ephemera were backed with black cardstock.

Back of page 1:- pocket for lined pages of journaling, tag for interest.
Front of page 2 is 1 of what I called 1 of the alternate pages.

Inside page 2 - more ephemera.
On the back of page 2 & front of page 3 there are pockets again for journaling papers.

Inside page 3: more ephemera , the vintage envelope is slit to allow insertion of papers, docs or pics. More charms & a key on key chain tucked into mini paper clip.  Thanks to Annette for the idea of slitting the envelope

Back of page 3 is a pocket for journaling pages attched with the same clip; the front of page 4 is decorated simply & both pages have vintage trinkets.

Inside of page 3:  the cabinet card opens to show a pic of a vintage gentleman; more vintage trinkets & some cream mesh ribbon to lightly soften the page

Inside the page is a journaling sheet - the other side opens to the following:

Both sides have journaling, the middle has simple ephemera & a tag

Back of page 6 is the other alternate page - the alternate pages could also be used on the front or back  covers of the journal 

The back cover of the journal: the other piece of the cover paper - distressed, torn & decorated with more ephemera, a vintage trinket with a clock charm

The spine of the journal: Covered with mesh ribbon & from a hardware charm hangs a key on jute twine & a little bottle of seed beads. A vintage trinket has a cream/gold tassle - a touch of elegance.

To be honest, I actually enjoyed making the mini album - it was a great exercise to see how the collection of papers & ephemera flowed together. 

  

Sherlock Journal Vol. III is definitely on the drawing board for mid year.
