A Decorative Folio

Hello everyone & welcome
Today I would like to share with you a decorative folio that I have created. This would make a lovely gift and could be used for writing or drawing.

The outer cover is made from chipboard, and has been covered with patterned paper and pieces from  cut & create sheets which are available from Meg's Garden online store.

The cover has also been embellished with die cut shapes, ribbon, lace, cheesecloth, a button & metal charm, seed beads, paper flowers, self-adhesive pearls as well as punched out paper shapes. There is lots of paper distressing using a paper distressing tool. I have inked the edges of the patterned papers with distress ink called walnut stain & Inka Gold: Gold was used on the edges of the chipboard cover for a touch of elegance.

Inside the cover there is a tea-stained envelope that has been embellished with a paper doily, lace, die cut & punched out shapes as well as pieces from the cut & create sheets.

With some handmade paper ready for writing or drawing this whole bundle of paper can be easily removed or individual sheets can be removed one at a time.

A decorated card with a tuck & a tag sit happily inside the envelope.

The back cover of the folio.

I hope I have inspired you to give this project a go.

Until next time.
Thank you so much for stopping by.
Have a wonderful day & happy creating.

Birthday Wishes and Butterfly Kisses

Hello Crafters,

The weather outside may be gloomy, but it's Spring over here in Meg's Garden! The new Spring Flowers Collection will brighten any day.

My absolute favourite from this collection is definitely the Butterfly Transparency Sheet. Thin and, textured like vellum, the colours are magnificent and create the perfect extra medium to your papers and embellishments.

The pastel colour palette of this collection is beautiful to work with. I have used the papers for the background and also die cuts for borders. I left embellishments to a minimum, having the butterflies and Vintage Journal Card sing in the centre.

I love the dimension they create, and the different texture against the papers. Just like they have flown onto my card, ready to explore the garden!

Happy Gardening,
Julia x

A Fairy Album

Hello Bloggers

This little book was started using Shades of Green Book Papers.  Then a set of the Fairy B&W Cut & Create Papers was put on the craft table & looked irresistible to play with.

Originally they were there for a card but who can resist a mini book with no embellishing.

The result is a video of the pages:

A Fairy Book

Products used

Printed & Digital Book or
Mini Album papers:

Shades of Green Paper Collection
Ivory & Sage green cardstock, Vellum

Fairy Cut & Create B&W Papers
Butterfly Transparency
Fairy Transparency

Paper flowers - wild rose, puffy flowers,
mini blooms, sm roses, daisy, mini rosebuds,
sm roses, apple blossom, green leaves.

Laces, ribbons, vintage trinkets & charms, pins of jewels

Dies - fairy m3135, elegant lines m242,
waterfall 1 m376, curls & flourishes m304

Silver sparkle Nail Polish
Cotton balls to sit behind curved butterflies

The paper on the cover was from my stash from Thailand

Hope this gives you some ideas.

Other Notes:

The silver nail polish was in the sale bin at the chemist for $2.95 - I had tried all the other sparkles things I had & none of them worked the way I wanted. Will it work?? Yes, it did!! & what a great price.  Now I have to find a gold one.

The nail polish was used on vellum, cardstock, charms & paper flowers & leaves. Also on some of the Fairy Cut & Create images.  A very thin layer added the right amount of sparkle, while a thicker layer was needed on the charms

Never stop thinking outside the box.

The Fairy on the cover & the paper butterflies on other pages were molded & rounded over my thumb.  I then glued 1/2 a cotton ball underneath to keep them rounded.

Pins of Jewels were used as Fairy Wands

Bye for now
Meg

LIFE IS A JOURNEY ~ SHADES OF GREEN

Hello Mary here to share another layout with the range Shades of Green

LIFE IS A JOURNEY

Because I am creating these layouts for my Daughters album I turn them into a 12 x 12 layout by simple adding the A4 pattern paper to a sheet of cardstock.

I added some texture with a rose stencil and texture paste and added some pink tones with water colour paint. Under my photo more texture using one of the dies from the store. There is a huge rang of dies to choose from, this one is called Screen Frame. The butterfly has been fussy cut from the Shades of Green Cut and Create Sheet and I have used lace and sheer green ribbon and the crystal jewel to nestle the flair. Under the butterfly I have one of Megs doily's peeking out.

My title which is from The Cut and Create sheet  I have framed with a chippy I embossed from my stash and then added the pastel enamel dots either side . Meg has enamel dots in all shades in the store. To pick up the shades of green in the paper I placed the Carte Postcard from a cut and create sheet at the top of my photo, I think it ties in nicely with the greens on the PP.

I finished the layout by fussy cutting the single white rose  from the cut and create sheet and placing it as though it is falling from the bouquet .

Thank you for calling by , I hope I have inspire you  to create with the gorgeous romantic papers and embellishments.
Happy Creating

One Paper Torn in Half

Hello Bloggers

I took 1 piece of paper from the Shabby Chic Backgrounds Collection Card Artist Pack & tore it in half & decided to make 2 cards in totally different styles - 1 Shabby Chic & the other Slightly Grunge.  Did not think it would work BUT ...

This is the paper I chose - the Music paper

Here are the 2 cards:

1.  Shabby Chic Style

The cardstock chosen was a deep rose colour from my stash (sorry no source colour available)
I used a round doily background & layered the torn half of the music paper - this was distressed, inked & the edges curled. The pink edges were from my blusher brush

The embellishments include a Pink Wild Rose, 2 White Paper Lilies, 1 Cherry Blossom with tinted pink edges & a Small White Paper Flower surrounded by a diecut flower with pinked edges (m356 open roses) as well as 3 paper leaves.  The pink die cut with a pearl highlight is from diecut Carousel m392.

There is no inside deco on this card since I had a slight woopsie with a bottle of glue which glued the card together.

2.  Grunge/Slightly Grunge/Masculine

The other half of the Music paper.   I was quite amazed by the results of my experiment using the 1 paper with 2 totally different styles.

The edges are distressed more than the first card, inked with frayed burlap & the corners curled. Cardstock was a light brown taupe & the layer was a scrap from old papers. The jute string was tied around the brown cardstock & the black diecut (Large Gears m277) was tucked behind before mounting on the card of ivory cardstock.
A Cut & Create Ephemera was foam mounted & a skeleton leaf tucked behind it. The other black diecut is from die Scribbles & Scrap m3130.

Inside the card are more scraps.  The brown/taupe cardstock creates a spot to slide a scrap of the patterned paper embellished with a vintage trinket.

The other inside has more scraps of cardstock & cut & create pieces.
The black die cut is from the same die used on the front - Scribbles & Splat (I think this is the splat) m3130. This is a great & fun die. Some more jute string to carry the design through the card

It was fun doing this experiment which I did not think would work - I challenge you to try it.

Bye for now
Meg

2017 by Meredith Hilly

Hello everyone. The page I did today was a 12x12 book cover for 2017.
I carefully choose different items and pictures that represent the past year.

I was able to use one of the new dies from Megs garden. The circle of leaves is a lovely way to draw your eye to the picture. I cut and folded the fan from Megs papers to give it a 3D feel.

I used a feather from my Guinea fowls to go with the ink nib.

Thanks for having a look at my page. Enjoy your day.

Megs Garden.

To have and to hold...

Hello again...
This time I have had the opportunity to use Meg's NEW range of Shabby Chic A4 papers
Today, I used the marl grey spotted pattern paper in a layout on a plain white 12x12 page.
I scrapped a black and white photo from my wedding day, on the 1st of February 2015, so we have recently had our 3rd Anniversary.
This is the pattern paper below that suited the black and white photo for this wedding day layout.
I have used a circle doily from Meg's store along with these little ivory rosebuds
I used a wedding title to finish the layout off.
Oh my goodness, Look at that beautiful die, from Meg's Garden.
It's called Elegant Lines - Small, click here to see all the amazing new cutting dies over at Meg's Garden.  I want to purchase them all!!! I have limited myself to 3 so far so to see more of my work with these new dies, stay tuned.
I hope to back again soon with more delights from Meg's Garden.
Take care

Shabby Chic Backgrounds

Hello fellow crafters, Mary here to share a couple of cards I created using the New Range ~ Shabby Chic Backgrounds
The card packs make life so easy and card making a breeze

Meg also has a selection of new dies in the store and I loved creating with this die. I often get frustrated with dies when they don't cut properly, but this die was fantastic to use, I can see it being a favourite for me. The squiggle die I have used is one I have at home.
I have taken two images from the cut and create sheet and layered them on top of each other, added the flower dies underneath added the gorgeous cream flower and anchored it with the satin edged organza ribbon and pearl trim , all from Megs Store.

For this card I used the lovely soft striped card base and layered the die cut image and then added the butterfly and rose image fussy cut from the Shabby Chic cut and create sheet , finishing off with the soft pink organza , satin edged ribbon.
The card packs  are pre cut for you and you recive two of each pattern in the pack. Click on the link for all the information of the card packs.
Thank you for calling by . You can get the card packs and all your embellishment needs at The Store , and don't forget to take a look at the gorgeous selection of new dies in stock.

Happy Creating
