Whimsical 70

Using the new papers and imagery from Meg's latest collection of Vintage Journal Cards is a pleasure, especially when you have a special someone with a milestone birthday in mind.

I have used a beautiful blue wisteria paper from a previous collection as my background, drawing colours from the VJC as inspiration for the style of this card.

A die cut out of the demure lady sits atop in the corner, grabbing the recipients attention, teamed with shades of purple as my coordinating colours. And, as always, my go to decoration - bling!
Included in the many layers are delicate paper doilies, which suit any colour and theme. They are easy to recolour, or look stunning left as is.

As added embellishment to the shimmering 70 sentiment, sits a bunch of small paper flowers from Meg's Garden shop. For texture and something really special, I have feathers coming out from the flowers.

With wispy lavender ribbon as the closure to the card, it becomes another embellishment when done up in a beautiful bow, and the final element to my whimsical card for someone special.

If you enjoy working with particular colours, or simply your own favourite colour, you will find creating in tonal shades a wonderful experience with Meg's collections.

Vintage Ladies by Meredith Hilly

Hello my crafty friends.
I have made three cards for you this post. I absolutely love the pictures of the ladies
in Megs "Vintage Ladies" papers.
The first card I used the "painted flowers die and stamp set."
I found these stamps and die sets very easy to use with a lovely finished flower to decorate my card.
The benefits of using the stamp and die sets are you can ink them what ever colour to perfectly match you project.

This next card I used one of the many new dies at Megs Garden. Its the wreath die and can be used
as a lovely border for a picture.

Don't be afraid to cut up flowers out of the lace you have. I cut the flowers out of the border lace of this card and randomly glued them on the wreath.

I have been using the "French Chic Card Artist Pkt 1" for these cards.
The colour in this pack goes lovely with the vintage ladies collection.

Thanks for dropping by and looking at my cards.

Hens Party Box by Meredith Hilly

Hello to all. Hope you are enjoying a bit of sunshine.
Recently my daughter had her hens night and I scrapped her a book of all the fun things we got up to.
Not wanting everyone to be able to see these activities a box was needed to be made for the book to be stashed in.

I used a red chocolate container and recycled it into the box I needed by sticking ribbon and paper onto it. This fitted the book and also the some of the party favours I made for our guests on the night.

The flowers where made using two or three of the paper flowers from Megs garden. By holding the centre of the first flower and pinching the petals up you then repeat the same process with the second flower. Fold as many as you want for a fuller flower effect. Then gather them together and glue them down. I added green glitter to the centre of them for a deeper effect. I think they look like dahlias.

Beings a hens night my lovely hens donated some feathers to the decorations on the lid.

I am sorry I am not able to show you the hens book inside but "What happens on a hens night stays on a hens night."

Paris Dreaming Layout

Hello there, and welcome to the Meg's Garden Blog!
Thanks for dropping by and joining me today as I share a layout I have created, using the Vintage Journal papers and the Vintage Ladies Ephemera papers.

 "PARIS DREAMING"
I have always loved Paris - it's the home of couture fashion, mesmerising perfumes, exquisite cuisine, and wonderful, eye-opening art and culture. What's not to love? So when I found these photos online (I cannot take credit for them - they are not mine), I couldn't help but use them as the focus for a layout to represent the richness and beauty of Paris.

I have layered the paper strip, lace and ribbon to create a focal strip on the page, and highlighted it with a row of rhinestones. The strip of paper has been decorated with a wide border punch.

How gorgeous are these tassels? If I had things my way, I think I would use them on everything - and yes, they come in different colours and sizes.

Have you tried the velvet flowers yet? Oh my, they are so rich and divine, and come in so many beautiful colours. I think I may have to stop myself from hoarding these - they are just so beautiful. But if you are not a fan of velvet flowers, that's alright, as Meg has paper flowers available too, and they are just as gorgeous.

I have finished my layout with gold coated chipboard, and a butterfly cut from the Vintage Ladies Ephemera papers. All in all, I am thrilled with this layout and the rich beauty of the page. When I dream of Paris, this is exactly what I want to imagine.

I hope you have enjoyed this project, and I look forward to my next opportunity to share with you.

And don't forget to LIKE us on Facebook to stay up to date with all the latest releases and happenings at Meg's Garden.

Happy Scrapping,

Forgotten Meadows using an Accordion Book Kit

Hello Bloggers

An Accordion Book Kit is perfect for making a mini book & using one of the cardmaker/mini packs of papers. This one is using the Forgotten Meadows Collection mini pack designed by Kerry-Jean Watson & is made to stand as shown.

Front of book
details of front corner

page 1 & 2. stamps from Design Elements Collage Stamps
oops - pearl missing

pages 3 & 4 Vintage Ladies from ATC006 but you could easily use your own pics

pages 5 & 6 + Cut & Create Forgotten Meadows

back of book is kept simple
Hope you like it. Please remember when using an accordion book kit that you have to add the ribbon closure between the covers before you add paper & embellishments to the hard cover. Second thing to remember is to leave enough between the covers so that you can add embellishments inside the book.  Best way to accomplish both of these is to do the inside pages & finish them before adding ribbon closure & covers.  This one uses cream organza ribbon which does not show up well in the pics.

The French Garden Mini Album

Hello friends and bloggers! It's Cathy here today and I have another paper bag mini album to share with you. It's shabby chic and it uses The French Garden Book Kit. I have lots of photos to share with this project so a cuppa may be needed!

To compliment the flowers and the also the vintage photo, I added some vintage touches. I used a vintage stick pin and also used some diamante trim .

On my first two pages, I have some interaction. On the left, I have a tri-fold photo mat that is inside the top pocket which can fit a total of 6 photos. On the right, the photo place holder which is a Kathy Orta concept enables you to place photo mats so as not to cover the paper.

Tri-fold photo mat (above)

The photo place holder (above). I used some of the die cuts from the kit and added some Spellbinder dies to further enhance it. You can tuck in tags and photo mats behind it.

Each of the pages has a large photo mat as well as shown. I used a background stamp from my stash that compliments the papers. The next two pages also have interaction. They have a large photomat (not shown) a flap, and a side pocket for smaller photomats and tags.

The next two pages have the same interaction again, a large photomat(not photographed) and a side pocket and a flap.

The final page includes the back cover. It has a side pocket and a photo frame that has a rectangular photomat.

A Simple Correspondence Book - a visit to Vintage Paris

Hello Bloggers

This is a really simple mini book; it has no fancy hinged binding, no fancy 3 way flaps or anything else that is complicated - it is EASY!!!

The cover

I used the Correspondence Mini Pack - the papers are 145mm square so they work really well with the 6" cream cardstock pages.  The cover was cream 6x6" cardstock with a piece of black cardstock with 2 pieces of the collection which were distressed & torn.  Vintage photo distress ink was used throughout the mini book.  A vintage trinket knob completed the cover

Inside front cover & facing page
The inside cover used the back of the cover as its page; a torn piece down the centre & pieces from Vintage Parisian Postcards #3376 added.  The facing page was some vintage writing with a trinket/. This facing page is actually the back of the next page.

Inside page 1 & facing page
Page 1 was 11" wide & folded at 5" to create an additional page - a pocket with tags - Vintage Parisian Postcards were used on both pages

Page 3 & facing:  pockets were created, the pages were distressed & torn & tags inserted & more vintage trinkets.  Love the way the trinkets add texture & interest but do not stand out.

Page 4 is a double page
Page 4 is made by adding an extra piece 5 1/4" to each side so that it opens up on each side. This pic shows the 2 flaps closed

Open flap 1 to see the inside
I did use some  of the ephemera from Correspondence Collection - cut & create P6406 & from The French Cinema#1038

Inside flap 2
More postcards, a tiny key chain with a tag & another pocket
page 4 & inside back cover
Another pocket with tags; a vintage lady mounted on foam with a secret roll of writing tied with a bow - love these little packets & of course, another trinket.  I think the trinkets were just into the store when I made this book - hence my use of them throughout.

back cover with a postcard & trinket

Each of the pages was glued to the previous age or used the back of the previous page as its page.  The pages were completed & the ribbon attached before adding the front & back covers.

This style of mini book could be used for any occasion. Instead of featuring Vintage French Postcards & ephemera you could use photos, instagrams, a holiday, a birthday or anniversary party - make sure you collect all the tickets, invites & all the fun 'stuff' so that when you go to make your book that you can add all of these little personal touches.
