Heather's card

Hi

Heather has created this awesome card for us:

front of card

inside of card

back view of card

detail of heart on back

'This card is perfect for a celebration … birthday, wedding, anniversary or a special occasion.
The base is white cardstock and I folded the card in 3 to create an interesting fold.
The front of the card is laden with the beautiful velvet flowers, leaves and clock all available from Meg’s Garden.
I layered the  cut out scroll and  a Tim Holtz die cut as a base to attach the flowers, leaves, muslin  and clock .
The inside reveals the paper with a perfect cluster of flowers and a birds nest. I added a stitched layered heart to finish it off .
The back of the card also showcases a large heart…
I used the delightful Forget –me-Nots paper range  … just perfect for cards .
Birds in Forget me nots.. P6303
Nesting P6301

Eila's Laughter Layout

Hi

Eila is wandering down the path of mixed media & is having fun all the way.

Eila explains:
'Just finished my June page, which is rather different for me. Have been experimenting with mixed media techniques lately, and found it rather cool to combine wet mediums with shabby romantic papers.

This page is called "Laughter" although I just realised I have actually forgotten to stick down the title! The happy couple is my colourful scrappy friend Miss R in Florida and her husband Mr E. The photo was taken at their beach wedding in March 2012, I just love the spectacular light in all of their wedding photos. This photo makes me really so happy, I can almost hear their giggles!

I have used the Shades of Blue P6302 as background paper. Misted in different shades of blue, teal and sand, and then used modelling paste/mask on it.

I then used the wonderfully floral Delicate Blue P 6306 and Birds in Forget Me Nots P 6306 as base matting across the page. Just casually tore the papers instead of cutting them.

A paper lace doily 25 cm was cut in half and misted it in denim blue before placing it under the base matting. Two layers of frayed and misted calico were scrunched and placed under the double layer of photos before strips of chunky lace were tucked in.

A couple of tears on the sides and left over pieces of patterned paper placed in the tears. A bed was made of muslin, lace, strands of hessian and skeleton leaves before placing an abundance of flowers on top. A string of pearls and a butterfly trinket. The smaller cluster up to the left was created in the same way, with some fussy-cut forget-me-nots added at the base.

As a finishing touch, gesso, modelling paste and gold acrylic paint were randomly smeared out with my finger.
------------------------------------------------
I wanted to show how the papers can be used in a rather modern but shabby way by adding mixed media techniques to them. It is very easy to get stuck in just fussy-cutting them, which I think would be a pity as there are quite a few scrappers out there who don't do fussy cutting but who could be inspired to use the papers anyway by adding other elements to them.'

Wow - what an inspiration Eila & so well done!!
Totally love it & I am in awe that you could see how the papers could be used for such a serious mixed media project. Fabulous - thank you so much

Sandy's Mother

Hi

Sandy's presents her very special layout:

'The beautiful papers from The Forget Me Not 2 Collection and various elements from Meg's Garden were perfect to highlight, and record this special photograph.  The photograph was taken of my Mother, on her wedding day, alongside of my Mother is her Grandmother.

'Delicate Blue' was the paper I chose for the background, with its regal and very elegant scrolls and lacework leaves/fine flowers.  The layout consists of layers of cardstock, paper from the Forget Me Not 2 Cardmakers pack, paper doilies, edged with the gorgeous lace, various flowers, ribbon, pearl string, and the most gorgeous silver clock and key charms I have ever seen - everything really is so beautiful, and helped make this layout so special.

I adore the 2nd range of papers, just as much as the first edition of 'The Forget Me Not Collection'... each collection melds perfectly with each other.

Vicky & her Garden Girl

Hi

Vicky explains her layout:

'I had this cute close-up shot of my daughter as a toddler but hated the background so I fussy cut her out and created a garden scene for her to sit in. Oh where to start... I used a mix of papers beautiful floral papers from Meg's Garden (Garden of Blue Flowers and Le Belle Jardin and French Garden collections) and started piling on chipboard, flowers, trim, a doily, pearl bling (yup basically the kitchen sink, LOL). I think I have nearly 25 Green Tara buds and flowers on this one!

Here is a close-up of my "garden" - purple gardenias, pink cherry blossoms, red rose buds and a beautiful large pink velvet rose.'

Thank you Vicky for your 'Garden Girl'  -  she is so precious.

Your 'kitchen sink' is so beautiful. Love the distressing of the paper edges & corners - the curls are fabulous.

Lots of detailed embellishment to review & enjoy

Well done.

Vicky creates 2 cards

Hi

This is what Vicky says about her cards:

'Meg's Garden papers make it so simple to pull together a few cards when you're in a pinch for time. The graphics literally do all the work for you and all you need is a few great embellishments. Here I have used gorgeous trims and flowers from Green Tara (you can find a nice selection of their products in her store). I actually made these from concept to completion in 45 minutes. Since I live 20 minutes from a shopping mall, well... that's 2 cards made in the same time as driving there and back and standing in line to pay for cards. I'm sure the recipients will appreciate handmade cards more than store-bought ones too!

I cut one piece of paper to make these 2 cards. This first one is a more feminine in style, pulling out the cream in the paper and accenting with pearl beads and butterflies to compliment the pretty gardenias, cherry blossoms, cream and olive trim - that matched this paper so perfectly.'

'For my second card, I played up the black and green in the paper to be able to be able to give this to a man. Men like flowers too (my hubby gardens while I scrap, LOL!). These green cherry blossoms really pop against the vintage inspired paper and work well with the gold tones in the paper (that I also enhanced with some bling).'

'This is the lovely sheet from the "Forget me Not" collection that I cut in half and then simply folded to create these 2 cards. This paper has a real hand-stamped look to it without any work or mess.

Thanks for dropping by the blog today!

Vicky'

Thank you Vicky - they are simply gorgeous - love the difference between the 2 cards done on the same paper.  Well done

Mixing the Forget me Nots

Hi

Cathy explains her projects:
'This month at Meg's Garden we are still creating with the gorgeous Forget Me Not Collection. I used some of the new #2 collection mixed with the 1st collection to create an altered gift box and matching card.'

Altered Gift Box

I have had this little box in my stash for a while, waiting to be transformed, and thought it would be lovely to give to one of my dear friends for her upcoming birthday. The thyme green colour of the box is a perfect backdrop for the Forget Me Not collection.
Couldn’t wait to use the gorgeous new Dusty Attic flowers. The Grassy Knoll and Smoky Blue were the perfect match and look so pretty with the fussy cut paper and stripe ribbon.

Materials Used - Meg's Garden: Forget Me Not Collection, Dusty Attic Flowers -grassy knoll and smoky blue, Candy Grosgrain blue and white stripe ribbon, Paper Lace Doily - bond square, Lace - 1cm off white, Tim Holtz Locket Keys, Tim Holtz safety

Other: Basic Grey pp, Scrapmatts Aust Federation chipboard corners, Kaisercraft pearls, metal pin, Basic Grey lace stamp, Heidi Grace greeting stamp, Versamagic ink

Matching Card

The altered box came out so well that I decided to make a matching card. I knew straight away that I would use the gorgeous La Blanche Wrought Iron Door stamp on my card. I stamped it on some plain cardstock in blue to match the new mini Forget Me Not papers and cut around the door so that it would open up to show my stamped greeting.

Materials Used - Meg's Garden: Forget Me Not Collection #2, La Blanche Wrought Iron Door stamp, Paper Lace Doily - bond square

Other: Basic Grey pp, Kaisercraft bling, Grant Archival frame stamp, Heidi Grace greeting stamp, Pink Paislee bird cage stamp, Butterfly charm, Rhinestones, Versamagic ink,

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Cathy :))'

Thank you so much Cathy for your 2 gorgeous projects. Love the way you have combined the greens & blues & lacy background.  Your friend is going to love her decorated box
Well done

Guest Designer - Ruth Limoux

Hi
Ruth joins us today as a guest designer - she used to live in Adelaide, which is where I met her. She now travels a lot, teaches many classes & is an accomplished paper artist

Tranquil

Ruth describes her layout which she calls:

'Tranquil

I have distressed the burgundy cardstock
The main sheet of paper has been distressed then stamped on the back at the edge then ripped and rolled in a v shape
With the other sheet of paper I have fussy cut the flowers and
layered them over the top of main sheet using foam tape.
Kindy glitz around the flowers to give them sparkle.
Chipboard has been inked and the 2 birds have been covered in the paper then inked
Fussy cut the branch and 3d it with foam tape and dimensional magic all over.
Mulberry paper roses have been added to give a more dimensional look.'

A beautiful photo for a gorgeous layout. Green Toile paper from Le Belle Jardin Collection is the
paper of choice for Ruth.

Well done Ruth - love all the elements in the layout. The distressing is superb, the fussy cutting of the flowers which sparkle with the glitz is magical.

Loved having you as a guest designer
