Bike Cogs again with Kerry-Jean

Hello Bloggers

I love what is often done with leftover paper & this is the perfect example:

'I had some of the Bike Cogs Mini Pack S121 left over so I put it to good use making this slightly more elaborate masculine card.

The Small rectangular Parisian frame fr005 was painted black and then inked a little with copper and bronze versa ink. I coated it in clear embossing powder and ended up with some great texture and color effect.
I wanted to have a bit  more of a flare to this card  so I cut out the background frame with the Silhouette Cameo and inked the edges. To break to blandness of the center I added a clock face from Old World Time 1037Old World Time 1037 and the metal charm.'

Fabulous card - well done Kerry-Jean.  Fantastic effect on the frame - looks like an old wrought iron piece. The Old World Clock & metal charm in the centre are perfect on the grey & beige background. The layers are gorgeous.

Bike Cogs by Kerry-Jean

Hello Bloggers

We have focused on the Damask Garden papers & have not done very much with the other collection from Denise Boddey - The Bike Cogs Collection.  We correct that with the next 3 blogs.

Kerry-Jean uses the  Bike Cogs Mini Pack S121 to create this Easel card.

'I seem to be drawn to making easel cards, I just love how they display themselves. And being able to get the silhouette with the chippies and the cutouts are great.

Other Products used for this card are

wood embellishment & chippies
flower market embellishment
Tim holtz Film strips'

Loving the easel cards & the way the design hanging off the card in space- well done Kerry-Jean.  The rust colour addition is perfect for these  papers - gives it a lift but also emphasises that cogs are sometimes grungy.

Mixed Media from Guest Designer - Belinda Spencer

Hello Bloggers

Today we have a guest designer to our Design Team - Belinda Spencer does awesome work & she shows us how she uses 1 of the papers in the ART paper collection.

'I have created a layout and easel card so far using the Light Brown Crackles paper and the fabulous skeleton mesh.'

This is the paper she used Light Brown Crackles - the 12x12" on the layout & one of the squares from the 4x12" strip on the card

and the Skeleton Mesh - fabulous when frayed

How amazing her work!!

Thank you so much Belinda - totally love what you have done. Would love to have you back anytime.

Fairy Spotters Journal from Sue

Fairy Spotters Journal
By Sue Smyth

Do you believe in Faries at the bottom of Garden?
This cute little journal is just perfect for those who believe.
I plan on giving this to a young lady who is collecting
photos and cards of fairies.

I have started with a plain mini album
and carefully cut an oval from the front cover.
Then just cover with Damask Garden papers, I like
to use Gel medium to adhere the papers down securely.
Dry brush the edges with gesso and spritz with a contrasting glimmer mist.

I have added a Megs Garden chipboard frame.
First I have painted it with Gesso, several coats
gives a good finish.
Then I stamped Sepia archival ink with a
text stamp all over the surface.
When dry cover with Dimensional Magic and sprinkle
a small amount of white glitter.

I have altered the gorgeous azalea flower, spray it with water
then either spritz carefully in the centre or
do as I do, use a pipette to drop a small amount spray ink into the center.
The wet flower then wicks the colour out from the center
for a neat natural look.

When dry spray with spray adhesive
and sprinkle with a little white glitter.

I have covered each of the panels inside the album with
papers from the Damask Garden set.
Then matt fairy panels with Kraft cardstock and
adhere to each panel

Make sure you include some of the poems in the Fairy panels

Megs Garden Materials

Added Materials
Imaginarium wrought fencing
extra flowers & pearls
Kraft cardstock
Chipboard album

Happy Crafting '

What a beautiful journal - well done Sue.  Totally love the effect of the pearls on the frame; thank you for your mini tutorial on how to colour the paper flowers - they are gorgeous & give a wonderful lift of colour to the cover.

Kerry-Jean's wedding LO

Hello Bloggers

'I mistakenly ordered some flowers but thought I would use them with Meg's Garden's new paper collection: Damask Garden. Using the Blue Belle Jardiniere P6380 and some old music script paper I had in my paper drawer I put together this.

The frame is a Silhouette cut file which I ended up misting with Vintage photo ink and a bit on bronze over the top to give it that aged look. The Fairy Viola Pink flowers came as a sprig, one of which I pulled apart to frame the photo a bit more of my paternal grandmother on her wedding day. I really love the blue grey and pink.

A beautiful page & what a happy bride - well done Kerry-Jean.  This collection has made itself very amenable to vintage wedding layouts.

Mini Accordion Book

Hello Bloggers

An accordion book using the Damask Garden papers shows how well the blues & greens in the collection work so well together

Cover of the book. To make a transparency extremely effective, fold down on each side of the body. Score the folds & allow the wings to fly.  Double sided tape on the body attached the butterfly perfectly.  The bees wings were also folded up a little to give dimension.

Inside front cover & page 1 - the lady is my Great Grandmother. I love double mounting

The accordion book has 6 pages - 2 inside the covers & 2 opposing pages.  To add more pages you can use cardstock pasted to the pages. The middle of the accordion book had flaps added to both pages using cardstock.

Inside the second flaps

Inside back cover - room for tags, music transparency & of course, some lace

Back cover which should never be ignored

Hope this gives you some ideas - I love the accordion book kits  - they just wait to be painted, embellished, papers added & more ....

Art on a Heart using the Damask Garden Papers

Hello Bloggers

Today we focus on another of the Damask Garden promo projects with an off the page projects:

'Art on a Heart'

Cut the chipboard to the size you want & sand the edges.  Trace the heart onto the patterned paper, cut & glue to the heart. The edges can be either distressed (here they were done with Faded Jeans blue) or painted. Punch holes in the tops to add ribbon.

A piece of lace was placed off centre, 3 flowers were fussy cut, curled, distressed & added to the heart using foam mounts. Diamante trim was added to the centres of the flowers & pearls glued into their centres. A jewelled pin was then added.

The final touches were labels cut from the Damask Garden paper which were mounted on chip with another piece of patterned paper & then tucked under the top of the lace & under the bottom flower. A piece of music transparency was also added for whimsy.

This is a pic of the chipboard before anything was done.  You are welcome to copy & paste this to do your own creation.  It can be made any size.

Could not have a promo without doing a couple of projects of my own.

Damask Garden card from Kerry-Jean

Hello Bloggers

Kerry-Jean continues with our  The Damask Garden Collection promotion.

'This has to be one of my favorite cards so far this year.

for my patterned paper and cut out the one of the pretty labels on the one paper in the collection. I also incorporated a piece of  French Writing Ephemera 3377 and More Butterflies Tr004 in the card.

I painted one of the Butterfly oval laser frame fr003 cream and inked the edges to age the frame a little bit. I also cut a pretty frame design on my Silhouette Cameo to put behind the frame.

Small Latte Paper Roses latte roses are a basic addition to the composition but I highlighted the with the Green paper leaves - sm gr leaves sm and added those very pretty Vintaj Woodland Leaf Charm p275 for a little bit of exquisite.

I added the Coffee Burlap/Jute 38mm burco to break up with intense green in the background.

Beautiful card Kerry-Jean - well done.  Love all the layers, the 2  frames and the embellishments used.  The butterflies flittering on the card give it an ethereal effect; the woodland charms add another texture as does the burlap ribbon.  The dodo vine curls enhance the paper flower posies nicely with the gorgeous distressing around the edge.
