Sandrine's Coaster Album - pics 2012

Hello Bloggers
Sandrine's little girl is the star in this album

Sandrine explains:

'"An Ode to a Summer's Day" is such a pretty collection, I did not have any trouble finding inspiration. The soft yellow tones in the papers remind me of my little girl's beach blond hair, so I decided to create a mini album with my 10 favourite photos of her in 2012. I mainly used yellow, green and beigy colours throughout the album, I wanted to give it a very soft touch. I also wanted to add some funky elements to my overall design such as banners, polaroid photo frames and some personal touches such as dry embossing and punched circles.

Love the square doilies, I cut the borders off and used as accent throughout the album

Love the ferns in the papers! And I also cut some of the words out as embellishments!

Here I used a doily for my background instead of dry embossing:

I cut some triangles out of Meg's paper to make little banners, I repeated this element throughout the album to tie the design together!

Here I joined the green leaves together to create a flower accent!

A Wedding Card from Chantal

Hello Bloggers

Chantal explains why this particular card:

'I had a layout to send you but I was contacted by Scrapbooking Memories to post it to them so I can't give that one to you now.

I have card to share though, I make cards all the time, but I rarely put them on my blog.  Mainly because I usually make the card for an occasion and off it goes on it's merry way... out of my life and into someone else's!

So this card has been made for an upcoming wedding and I've used sketch #50 at retro sketches…'

I have made a posy out of some lovely Manor House Creations "Taneisha" flowers and all the patterned papers, transparencies, ribbon and lace trim are all from Meg's Garden.

I've mixed two collections here - The French Garden Collection (Pink Passion) and the new Ode to a Summer's Day Collection (Green Stripes of Summer).  I love how these collections can so easily be used together for colour contrast, whilst still complimenting each other so well.

I also have some fantastic news, Meg!  My layout featuring little Heidi is on the front cover of the latest issue of Scrapbook Creations!!!  Soooo excited!  I have put the cover on my blog - although I haven't seen it in real life yet (subscribers have their copies early!) - now I'm wishing I was a subscriber!!!  Lol!

Love the card Chantal & I particularly love the fact that it is not the trad white & silver wedding theme.  Well done.   The combination of papers is great; the touch of purple really creates a statement & the cluster of flowers in the same purple, yellow & pink finishes it perfectly.

Fab news on the front cover spot!!  Have put the magazine on my 'to do list' to stop in at the newsagent.

The colour of the flowers you used for embellishing has made a dramatic impact & highlights the card beautifully.  The scrollwork, birds nest & bird are fabulous.

Heather - your layouts are so outstanding & this one is no exception - absolutely fabulous.  Well done.  There are so many elements, layers & embellishments - do not know where to start - so gorgeous - each & every piece.  The stitching, the pink brads, the stamping & the clusters. I am blown away.

Your LO was the reason that I purchased the Cottage Cutz Leafy Foliage die for the web site

Stephanie's card & layout

Hello Bloggers

Stephanie is also working with the new papers - Ode to a Summer's Day in her card & layout.

'“Love is Timeless” Card

I used the new “Ode to Summer’s Day” collection for this card. I thought that the image of the man and woman would be nice for a card that could be used at anytime of the year to give to someone you care about.

I cut the base for my card out of a pale green cardstock which, when folded in half would make a 5” x 7” card. I cut the bottom 5” x 7” out of the “Summer’s Dance” paper. What I love about these papers is there is the 4” x 12” strip of matching papers to the 12” x 12” sheet which is perfect for when you're making cards, you don’t have to cut into that pretty 12” x 12” piece, you can save that for a layout or another project. So I cut out the image of the man & woman out of the 4” x 12” strip of paper, which would be 3” x 4”. Out of the 4” x 12” strip of a “Summer’s Day” I cut a piece 5½” x 1 ¾” and I then used  a piece of Green Toile paper that I had in my stash approximately 4 x 1 ½. I distressed and inked all of the papers and laid them out as shown in the photo. I added a strip of lace down the left side of the card and added one of the white Meadows flowers and used two of the Dusty Attic leaves in the top left corner.'

'Back-In-Time Layout

I love these new papers from the “Ode to a Summer’s Day” collection by Denise Ann. For this layout I used “A Summer’s Day”, “A Summer’s Dance” and “A Summer Bouquet”.  I distressed all the papers on this layout with my distress tool and also some Vintage Photo distress ink by Rangers. I die cut the Summers Day paper and then laid that down on a piece of pale green card stock and another piece of paper from my stash.

For the pieces under my photo (yes that’s me way back in 1955, lol) I cut one of the corners off the Bond 25 Square doily and used some of the distress ink on that. I then cut a piece from the top left of the Summers Dance paper (to get the paper that was more of a red color) and then a smaller piece of the Summers Day 4” strip (so it was a bit darker green shade).

The Summer Bouquet paper is definitely made for fussy cutting! So I fussy cut three pieces of the flowers from the paper to lay around the photo. I then took one of the white gardenias and inked it with Fired Brick distress ink and laid that down over the fussy cut flowers along with two of the Lilac & Lavender paper roses.

To finish off the layout I used some green alphabet stickers from my stash and outlined them with a fine tip black sharpie. I know you’ll love working with these new papers just as I do, TFL!'

Ulrika's Layout - 'You and Me'

Hello Bloggers

Ulrika explains:

'I´m totally in love with the new beautiful collection! The pretty colors and the gorgeous patterns made me create with heart, soul and joy! For my page I have used Summers Dance and Apple Blossom. I used it as background and for
all my die-cut doilies and the banner too. I have also used Basket weave rectangle doily and Grassy Knoll flowers. One thing that really set the feeling on my page is the large flower from Manor house creations. To make some interesting color dots I used the cute Forget me not Flowers in Antique purple color. A really fun page to create!

Hope you liked it! Hugs from Ulrika!'

I totally love it Ulrika - well done.  Love the use of the doilies;  the flower clusters are really gorgeous & I really like the placement of the photo.  You have used the new Ode to Summer's Day collection of papers especially well.

Hello Bloggers

Adriana explains her fabulous reversed canvas/shadowbox project:

“Summer’s Day Garden -  Reversed Canvas”
by Adriana Bolzon

'Creating canvases are very popular at the moment and I have seen many turned around, reversed, this enables you to create a shadow box effect.
I decided to give it a go creating one with the new papers, “Ode to a Summer’s Day”.'

'I created the 3D Summer Bird House using the Tim Holtz - Artful Dwellings diecut.  I fuzzy cut the apples and leaves from the Apple Blossom paper and with the inside part of this paper I diecut the leaves.  I added the rich burgundy colour of the velvet flowers from Meg’s Garden.
The scene inside the canvas is from the Summer’s Day Collage sheet.

I now have create my very own Summer’s Day Garden.

What a beautiful Summer's Garden - so much work & a fabulous result - well done Adriana.
I love all the embellishing you have done;  the leaves trailing up the side of the canvas & the way you have made them 3D; the flower bouquets, the way you have fuzzy cut the paper to create the window & the corner scrap flourishes are a beautiful final touch.  Your choice of chippies is perfect.
