Happy Birthday - Karen McLaughlin

Hi Bloggers.

This is my first blog for Meg's Garden and I am so pleased to be on this team.  For my first project I thought I would ease myself in slowly and made this card using the Spring Pastels collection.  I haven't made cards for a while now and I really enjoyed making this little one.  The papers are so easy to use and co-ordinate so well together it really was very easy putting the papers together.

I hope you like this card and I am excited to show you my next project using these delightful papers.

Please like us on facebook to stay up to date with all the latest releases.

Thanks for looking.  Karen xx

SHE IS GORGEOUS ~ SPRING PASTELS COLLECTION

Hello Mary here to share a layout with the beautiful new Spring Pastels Collection
This range is 8.3 x 11 in size and is perfect for making cards, mini books or layouts. I thought it would be nice to do a layout in this size for a change as apposed to the normal 12 x 12 size, plus I have a couple of albums in this size that I really need to do more layouts for.
I love the soft dreamy colours and the gorgeous images on the cut and create sheets. This is what I created
She is Gorgeous

I have used the dreamy soft hydranga background and fussy cut the single hydranga flowers from the cut and create page  and have them falling down my page
To create the border around my photo I just used Kaisercraft paint and then added the lovely soft organza flower edged ribbon . The flowers are all from Megs Gardens Shop and I have fussy cut the butterfly from the cut and create page as well. The lovely thin mauve ribbon fits in perfectly amongst my cluster. I have also added some fussy cut pieces at the top of my photo and at the side , on which I have placed the title .

Being Spring in Australia at the moment and the days getting warmer, perfect to create with this beautiful range.
Until next time
Happy Creating

Hens Party Box by Meredith Hilly

Hello to all. Hope you are enjoying a bit of sunshine.
Recently my daughter had her hens night and I scrapped her a book of all the fun things we got up to.
Not wanting everyone to be able to see these activities a box was needed to be made for the book to be stashed in.

I used a red chocolate container and recycled it into the box I needed by sticking ribbon and paper onto it. This fitted the book and also the some of the party favours I made for our guests on the night.

The flowers where made using two or three of the paper flowers from Megs garden. By holding the centre of the first flower and pinching the petals up you then repeat the same process with the second flower. Fold as many as you want for a fuller flower effect. Then gather them together and glue them down. I added green glitter to the centre of them for a deeper effect. I think they look like dahlias.

Beings a hens night my lovely hens donated some feathers to the decorations on the lid.

I am sorry I am not able to show you the hens book inside but "What happens on a hens night stays on a hens night."

SPRING PASTELS CARD BOX

Hello Blogger,

Today I would like to share with you Meg's Garden new collection 'Spring Pastels'.  It is a wonderful range with so many soft pastels all matching, teamed with the Create and Cut pages.

SPRING PASTELS CARD BOX

I was so taken with this range, I decided to make a little card box to give as a present.  These are so easy to make and with the right papers and embellishments makes an idea gift.

I had so much fun placing the embellishments around the box.

As you can see the front has an acetate window to showcase a special card.
I have incorporated a card to show how all things match perfectly.

Well thank you for taking the time to look and be sure to keep a look out next month for more matching cards.  Have a great month creating and until next time.....happy scrapping.....love Liz

A TOUCH OF BLUE~ WATERCOLOUR IN BLUES

Hello Mary here to share a card I recently made for a friends birthday, using the Watercolours in Blue Range
It is so easy to create a card with Megs Garden's coordinating rage of papers and Cut and Create Images.

To add softness and interest I added a piece of the Large Lace doily under the layers and used images from the cut and create sheet as my top layers.
I then decided to make a envelope for my card from the Same Pattern Paper in the Watercolours In Blue range, that I used for the base of my card.
The front of the envelope

and there I have a coordinating Card and envelope for my friend for her birthday. The vintage lady is from my stash, the rest of the products can be found at Megs Garden.
Until next time
Happy creating

She's a Little Bit Vintage - Spring Pastels Collection

Hi Everyone and welcome to Meg’s Garden
Today I have another card to share with you, using the fabulous Spring Pastel’s Collection. I wanted to capture the essence of a small collection of vintage memorabilia.
megs-garden-remeber-3

I prepped the base card with a pretty piece of paper from the collection I have sponged and distressed all the edges before adhering them to the white base  card.  The postcard, the pretty lady and the ticket are all cut from the cutting sheets that come with the collection.  I added some pieces of lace across the curled piece to carry the colour theme throughout the card.  I also dyed a small piece of muslin to add underneath the photo. A small metal padlock and two flowers from Meg’s Garden accessories and some pink sequins finish the card.  I also fussy cut the ‘remember’ and added it to the base  after sponging the edges (see picture below).
Some photo’s of the inside of the card.

This paper is so pretty, so I added a few closeups.

VINTAGE JOURNAL by Annette

Hello All
Wishing you a very warm welcome to Meg's Garden
Today I'm sharing with you a work in progress
An album using the "Vintage Journal" papers
it will be a memory book of my maternal grandparents
Herbert (Bert) Moncrief & Lillian Mary Gedye.
The base of my book is made with a cardboard box,
which works out perfectly as the spine is already creased.
I trimmed it down to 13.5 x19.5cm
to cover I crumpled brown paper & glued down with Gel Medium
on both sides.
I then wiped stazon over emphasizing the edges & spine
using distress ink I smeared the pad over & lightly spritzed with water
when totally dry I painted over with gel medium
the cover now has a look of aged worn leather
I haven't as yet decided upon a finish for my cover,
it will be held together with a piece of leather with a clasp or buckle ..
making the hinges
in total & adhered to the inside spine
single pages are then adhered
all papers are distressed & inked

Sheds of Hahndorf using Vintage Journal Collection

Hello Bloggers

I have always been a City girl. When I moved to Hahndorf in 2009, I was in awe of the old buildings here (old for AU).  The heritage houses on the Main St have been registered as Heritage & have lots written about them.

What caught my attention were the old sheds, outbuildings & 'dunnies' that had been ignored. The one shed that sparked my interest is one that I walked past almost every day - the sheds next to Pioneer Park in the yard of Haebich's Old Smithy from 1839.

My camera has caught many of them since 2010;  my idea to create a book started in the classroom of the original Charlotte's web - so I dedicate this book to Charlotte - hope you see it.  I collected rusty nails pulled from old posts, bark from gum trees & seed pods & finally decided I had the right papers for it in the Vintage Journal Collection.

This is my book:

Cover

the book has a double cover - this is the inner cover & right spine

book open showing inside of front cover  on the left, all pages attached to second spine, inside the other spine from pic  #1 & inside second cover

the original school from 1854 & a german wagon in front of the old mill - both these pages open out

each section of the pages has many pages which fold in

this is a pic of Haebich's old smithy on the left & the shed which inspired me on the right - they also open out to show more

a classic dunny facing away from the cottage - this is behind No.90 The White House

another dunny & also old shed with ladder to get into the top

Hahndorf also has old barnhouses - this is the 'best' - man & animals were housed under one roof until time & money were available to build a house

must also add some fab garages

No 7 Pine Ave was built for one of the 1st surgeons in Hahndorf - it is currently for sale but needs lots of restoration.  I was intrigued by the sheds in the back of it

this is the original stone stables at 7 Pine Ave

inside of second cover

top view of book

pic of pages
These are only some of the pics that I took - the slide video shows them all

The style of the book is loosely based on a video from Xannero1 called Ladies Diary Journal Workbook - thanks Annie - had to modify your method a little since I needed lot of pages.

Hope you enjoy my book - I had a lot of fun making it.

Bye for now
Meg
