Fun by Dana Tatar - English Rose Garden

Hi Meg's Garden fans! Dana Tatar here today sharing a layout that I created with the gorgeous new English Rose Garden collection. I used a neutral piece of patterned paper from the Butterfly Collection for the background of this page. I then added whipped spackle through a stencil to select areas of the page to add some dimension to my design.

I cut roses and leaves from the Pink Rose Vine patterned paper and ephemera from the English Rose Garden Cut and Create patterned paper to layer under my photo, which I matted with the Leaves and Foliage patterned paper from the English Rose Garden Mini Pack. I cut a Circle Paper Lace Doily into several pieces and tucked it between the layers of patterned paper.

I further embellished this page with chipboard pieces from my stash, Antique Champagne Tassels and Off-White Open Roses.

Thanks for stopping by today!

'English Rose Garden' - Cards by Margaret Mifsud

Hi everyone and a very warm welcome to Megs Garden!!  Hope you are all having a wonderful day.

I'm back again to share two more cards made with the lovely 'English Rose Garden' papers by Megs Garden.  I think I mentioned in a previous post how much I love these papers.. they are so pretty and simply perfect for anything 'shabby chic'.

It is winter here in Australia and it has been bitterly cold and wet and I, for one, have certainly had enough of this weather.  I made these cards with some lovely summery colours just to brighten up the day a bit.

Lace

For the base paper I've used 'Leaves &Foliage' and then added some scraps from 'Bouquet of Roses' and 'Roses & Flowers'  plus a small scrap taken from the Butterfly Book Kit to add a little contrast.

I added a little texture with a Prima Damask Stencil and some paste and cut a small metal trinket in half and inserted it in between the paper layers.

The 'Puffy Paper Flower' (one of my favourite flowers to use) was coloured with acrylic paint.  I usually buy my flowers white and then mix my own colours of acrylic paint to get the shades I need.  Place them in a spray bottle, fill it up with water and the paint will spray quite easily.  I used the same method to colour the small paper roses.

The gorgeous lace was attached with a glue gun.  I simply gathered it slightly as I was glueing it down.

Used a couple of strips from the 'Pink Rose Vine' paper to decorate the inside of the card.  The left side was edged with Martha Stewart's Floral Vine Deep Etch Border Punch.

Added some seed beads, some twine made into a bow, some pieces of gauze and even a twist of cotton thread in and around my flower clusters.  Once everything was assembled, I dry brushed some gesso in random places to create some highlights.

So, that was card number one, and this is card number two ..

Tim Holtz Studio Keyholes
http://megsgarden.com/contents/en-us/d429.html

For this card I used two pieces from the 'Roses & Flowers' sheet.  Cut them to size and distressed the edges with a distressing tool.

My fave flower again .. the pretty 'Puffy Paper Flower' sprayed the same as on my previous card.

This bloom is the 'Ivory Primula'.  It is a lovely creamy white fabric flower which has been altered using watered down 'Peeled Paint' Distress Paint.

Megs Garden also sells some Tim Holtz products.  This is one of the 'Keyholes'.  I simply glued it down and swiped it with a little gesso.

The seam binding was sprayed with the same colour as the Primula then crumpled up and dried.  Wrapped it around the top paper layer and simply tied it in a bow.

Added some gauze in between the paper layers, some seed beads in a few spots and some strands of twine to the cluster.  Swiped some gesso in random places and my card was done!!   Adding these little touches just adds so much interest to a card .. well, I think so anyway .. LOL!!

If you wish to take a closer look at the products used here simply click on the product pictures and it will take you to the web page.  Do take a further stroll around the Garden to take a look at the wonderful creations by my Team mates .. I know you will be inspired.

I hope I have inspired you as well.  Thank you so much for visiting and enjoy the rest of your day.
Take care and God Bless.

Marie Antoinette Photo Frames by Meredith Hilly

Marie Antoinette Photo Frames by Meredith Hilly.

Hello everyone. I hope you are keeping warm with such cold winter weather. A great time to scrap.
My off the page project that I wish to show you is using photos of the beautiful Queen of France, Marie Antoinette, who became a symbol for the wanton extravagance of the 18th century monarchy. I wanted to capture her in these photo frames of the young and older Marie. The  "Forgotten Meadows Paper " and embellishments from Megs garden are so stunning and feminine they complement her indulgence of fine possessions.

In the younger photo frame I used the beautiful blue from her dress to feature in the frame.
Blue ribbon and small blue roses brought the frame together. Lace and silver sequences gave it a classy look.

The white roses and frame were sprayed with a pearl shimmer mist that caught the sun light beautifully. I used a matt silver for the leaves and inked the edges to give it a aged look.

For the second frame I choose the chocolate and bronze colours from Maries dress to
bring the photo frame together. This colour also, I feel ,gives Marie a more mature look.

This rose I attached is like the one in the photo she is holding. Using the bronze coloured lace to frame her photo really draws your eyes to her elegance. I finished the frame with a dark ink that matched the chocolate coloured leaves.

Thank you for looking at my latest project.

The White Rose by Liz Hocking

Hello Bloggers, so glad you could join me today for my very first project for Meg's Garden.  I received Meg's new collection 'The English Rose Garden',  Such gorgeous 12x12 papers along with matching 'Cut and Create' sheets.
I selected this photo of my sister on her wedding day,  way back in 1970.  Sadly, she has passed away,  but I am making a vintage/heritage album for my grandchildren, so they will be aware of all the family members.   This collection is so suited for this type of album. I hope you agree.

Firstly,  from the collection, I selected 'Leave & Foliage' and 'Roses & Lace' for the background. I then went about some fussy cutting from the 'Cut & Create' sheet, which worked well for my mini frames as you can see.

I applied some Dimensional Magic, which happened to crack so I choose to leave it as it added to the vintage feel of the layout.  You will also notice that I cut up Meg's Garden Doily and made a border along the bottom of Meg's Lace.
I also cut out the little basket with flowers and coloured with Gelatos.

Another frame with a rose used  from 'cut and create' along with a brass butterfly and a little 'silver' fairy which I coloured with my Copics to give it a 'brass effect'.

Well I hope that you have enjoyed this visit and for more inspiration, I hope that you keep returning to see what the other girls on the Design Team have created.  To visit Meg's Garden shop just click HERE  Until next time......Happy creating....Liz
