'Nature' - a Journal by Margaret Mifsud

Hello everyone and welcome to Meg's Garden.  So pleased you dropped by for a visit.

Today I would like to share with you a small Journal I have created with the stunning Forgotten Meadows Book Kit designed by Kerry-Jean Watson.

These papers have some gorgeous floral graphics and I chose the lovely Wisteria for my cover.  Added a hint of colour  under the cluster with a spray and also added a little texture.

The chippies are from 2Crafty Chipboard and they were simply coloured with acrylic paint and then coated with Crackle Accents.

These lovely blooms are also from Megs Garden.   The 'Puffy Paper Flower' and the 'Mini Rose' were coloured with watered down acrylic paints.

Instead of cutting the papers to size I decided to tear all the edges and then ink them with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.  Found some lovely 'Nature' quotes on the net and incorporated them into my Journal.  Added some washi tape and ribbon and also some seed beads.

The first two pages ..

The pages in this booklet simply fold out.  Opening the left hand page reveals these two pages.

 Another 2Crafty Chipboard piece ...

... and the lovely vintage image came from the cut and create pages.

Opening the right hand side reveals these pages.

Added a little stamping on this page and sewed it around the edge.  I did quite a bit of sewing in this book, it's a great way to attach paper strips, ribbons and labels etc.

Love the brilliant colours on this butterfly.

The 'butterfly' page opens again to reveal these two pages.

I fussy cut one of the floral graphics and mounted it with some foam dots.

All the metal pieces are available at Megs Garden and I swiped them all with Ranger Metal Patina in Rust.

Here is the book fully opened.

The back cover showing another beautiful floral graphic.

... and the back of the booklet fully opened.

I love the details on these papers.  Apart from the floral graphics there's lots of yummy crackle effects and textures .. simply stunning to work with.

Mother..... Album/Book by Brenda Caldow

Hello everyone and welcome to Meg's Garden. I would like to show you a mini album/book I have created for my mum. This album is very special to me and I have been so lucky to be able to use two different paper ranges and some very beautiful embellishments form Meg's Garden store.

One of the papers I chose to use are from The French Garden Collection. My mum has always had a love of the colour green and I knew that she would love these papers and that Choosing to use the bird bath for the cover she would love.
The fabric flowers are Wild Moss and are a perfect match for the green in the patterned papers.

I just love this paper love heart doily, so elegant. The fabric flowers on this page are Bridal Veil and work so well with the doily. The verse and cute angle picture are cute from the Fairy Land Collage papers
On the page below I once again used one of the paper doily's - Mini square. I inked it with Distress Ink to bring in mums favorite colour again since the baby photo is of mum. Again using the Wild Moss Fabric Flowers. The clock I have fussy cut from the 12x12 Collage papers - Old World Time.

Again I have fussy cut another of the clocks and this timer I have used a Paper Lace Strip. The picture of the beautiful lady is From the collage paper - Vintage Beauties and there a quite a few different picture to pic from and fussy cut out.  The flowers are Paper Azaleas and Viola Posy - pale pink.
On the opposite page I fussy cut a shoe from Put On Your Dancing Shoes. Behind it I place a photo of mum and made it so I can journal on the back. I also cut another tag and place one of the transparencies over to the top.

Now for my next page.

I just love this photo of mum and I. Again I have used the Paper Lace Strip and inked it with Distress ink. This time I added a little of the green ink to the paper Azaleas and then coloured the stamen centers green to match in. The butterfly has been fussy cut from The Forgotten Meadows - Cut and Create sheet
On the adjoining page I used a butterfly oval laser cut frame. The flowers I coloured with Copics and the outside of the frame I used Viva Croco Crackling. The Cotton Lace is just beautiful and I placed one of the clock that I fussy cut out just coming out from behind the photo.

I just love the lace I have used behind this photo of mum, it is stunning. On the opposite page I have used one of the Bond Square doilies and folded it to make an envelope which I placed tags in. This butterfly has also been fussy cut.

Each of the tags have been cut from the ATC papers -  Vintage French Floral Postcards,  Vintage Ornate Tags and once again the Put On Your Shoes page.

This photo of mum, dad and my two sons Riley and Harley was taken at Christmas time. It is deferentially one of my favorites. On the opposite page I have fussy cut the flowers and clock from  the Mad Tea Party papers and razed it up with dimensions squares. The chippie butterfly is by Scraptopia and I coloured it with Copics.

My next page is of mum and my youngest son Harley.

To create the bow I used Jute Ribbon. I have fussy cut the flowers, butterflies, tags and the word treasure from the patterned papers. The doily is from a die in my die stash. On the opposite page I created a pocket and die cut some tags and I will be using them to journal on the back off.

These are my final two pages before I show the back cover. I love these two pages. The flowers, lace and the fussy cut lady - Vintage Bathing Bellie No 6  have all worked well together I think.

Well I hope you have all liked my Mini Album/Book for my mum (Helen). Please check out the store there are so many goodies. Dont forget to keep coming back to the blog and having a look at what everyone on the design team has been up to.
For now though my back cover (Which I chose to leave plain) and Happy Crafting.

Vintage flower tags by Sue Smyth

Vintage Flower tags
By Sue Smyth

Hi Bloggers
I love a sampler, and this time I wanted to use shipping tags,
along with the Forgotten Meadows papers.
A sampler is a great way of making a lot of
mis matched and left over papers
work together. It is also a good
way to use up left overs or card packs.

The pink rose tag did not need too much to embellish,  I have
added Dimensional magic to the edges of the rose petals
and sprinkled over with white glitter to frost the edges.

I always adhere my paper butterflies to white cardstock
for strength and this time I have added a little glitter to the wings.

Trim the extra leaves off the lacy flower, ( use on another tag)  and adhere tiny
adhesive pearls to the stamens in the centre for
a little depth and shine.

To get nice colour on the Azalea, simply draw a line
down each petal and spots around the petals with a Tombow or water
soluble pen, then spritz with water and dry off with
a heat gun.

Of course I have added a faux cameo, by die cutting a
gorgeous vintage lady, cupping it over a mouse pad
with a stylus and adhering to a glittered scalloped
oval with 3 D foam tape. Add small pearls one at
a time to achieve that gentle oval curve.

These tags are large shipping tags I have
cut down to fit on the page nicely.
And I have inked all of the edges with Distress ink.

Apply a small amount of white gesso over the
silver plastic trim to soften the harsh silver sheen.
It looks way more vintage then too.

Again add a little gesso to the bracket and trim for
an aged vintage look.
Add pearls and bling for shine.

Adhere each tag to the background with 3 D foam tape.
Or like me use scraps of chipboard to raise them
up nicely.

Add a small rhinestone to the centres of the
silver plastic trim, after you have added
a little gesso. It looks just like a mini
brooch then.

Add some fussy cut flowers, again cup the centres for a
dimensional look and add small 2mm rhinestones for
the centres.

Rub gesso over the wings of the blue bird to pick up the
detail.
