Design Team Call Out

Hello and Attention to all Papercraft Artists

We are looking for a few awesome Australian Papercraft Artists who can showcase the Meg’s Garden products!!

If you LOVE Papers and lots of embellishments and use them to create layouts, cards & off the page projects then show us what you love to do!!

We are looking for talented artists who inspire others to create.

What is expected of a Meg’s Garden/Designs Galore Design Team Member?

 ·          The ability to showcase our products!

 ·          Take good photos or scans of projects

 

The Details –

·          Design Team is for 6 months from 15th Feb 2014 – 15 August, 2014.

·          Create a minimum of 1 layout/project per month posting on both your blog and the Meg’s Garden Blog – dates will be given when team in picked.

·          Promote Meg’s Garden/Designs Galore by posting the above layouts/projects on other online galleries and blogs with working links to the blog.

Linda shows us her Signature Book

Linda has another gorgeous project for us - it is her last on the DT & we will miss her really fabulous work.

'I have loved being on this team, the products are gorgeous to work with and their papers just divine.

So this is my very last post for Meg's Garden as part of the team but I do look forward to using their products again in the near future. 

"Signature book"

I was inspired to create this after watching a you tube video from Scraps of Darkness kits.

Meg's garden paper used as the background Green Toile, I covered the entire book in this paper and cut the white flowers out and spread them through out the flower cluster.

I cut a couple of flowers of a fairy viola stem in pale pink and forget me nots in cream were added amongst the flowers.

Here you can see the hand cut flowers from the paper and a velvet flower poking out from the stem above.

The spine was made using masking tape and glimmer mist.

The back was covered in the paper.

A few cut out flowers also added to the back.

Plain paper added to the inside using satin seam binding, which I also used to tie the book shut.

Two Beautiful Cards from Marg

 'Hello everyone!!!   Welcome to Meg’s Garden.

Margaret here and this time I would like to share two cards with you.

 Although these cards were made with papers from the same collection and were constructed in a very similar way, they look very different from each other.  The papers used are from the Dreaming in the Meadows Mini Pack.   I’ll place a list of the products used at the bottom of this post.

Here is the first card.

I used white cardstock for the base and layered the papers with some netting in between to give it a softer look.  Then machine stitched around the edges.

This corner was curled over and held down by a piece of bling cut from the Daisy Silver Trim to which I’ve added a few beads for some added colour.  I just love that lace and had to have a little piece peeking out from the edge.

The stunning flower is the Ivory Heirloom 6.5cm which is, of course, available from Meg’s Garden as is the gorgeous lace.  The two die cuts underneath are Marianne Creatables’ Frame & Swirls Die and Couture Creations’ Starburst Doily Die.  The starburst die was trimmed a little to fit in with the design.   The leaves were cut with my Silhouette and edged with white puff paint.

The wooden flourish was coloured with Versa Color Olive and I added another piece from the Daisy Silver Trim with the beads in the centre. 

The inside was lined with two more sheets from the same collection.  These papers are so pretty you really don’t need to add anything to them.  I love it! 

The 2^nd card.

As you can see I’ve used two different sheets of paper here but they are still from the same collection and from the same paper pack.  The base of the card is a pastel pink cardstock and I’ve cut it slightly smaller than the previous card.

I’ve used the same two dies as before but without trimming this time.  Then the oval shape and the banner were placed on top.  The oval was cut out with Couture Creations’ Oval Nesting Dies and the banner was cut out by hand and layered with the same paper.  The floral sprigs were cut with the Honey Blossom Sprig Die from Memory Box.

This gorgeous flower is the Ivory Primula to which I’ve just added some autumn leaves.

I’ve just used a couple of strips of the paper for the inside this time and edged them with Martha Stewart’s Doily Border Punch.

… And there you are!!  Two cards made with basically the same materials and yet they look very different.   When you find a design that you love, you can use it again and again and by just changing the paper or adding or changing a few elements, your cards will look very different and no-one would know they are basically the same design.

Heather does a Masculine Tag

Masculine Celebration Tag in a Pocket.

The Tag is slightly larger than the pocket and is created with Kraft paper .

Stamp the tag and a fold a 3 inch piece of paper over the top section of the tag to add interest.

This is such a simple yet striking masculine Tag in a pocket.

My base is Kraft cardstock .

I used a Spellbinders Nestabilities die cut … Labels Twenty-One.

There are 5 dies in the pack and I alternated 3 sizes with Automobile parts collections and Kraft paper.

I completed the stack by adding the stunning vintage clock and secured it with a brad.

New Papers

Welcome to the New Year.  Lots of exciting things are on the drawing board here.  Just back from CHA with so many new products & ideas buzzing around in my head I am not sure where to start.

Denise is hard at work with her new collection which is expected to be ready at the end of the month.  Sneak peaks look fab.

Meanwhile we have some new papers that are at both extremes.

The first one is for those unusual projects which require a unique paper -

 this is it:  Rusty Corrugated Iron 3500

In the middle of the two extremes is a fun paper pack with six images of ephemera - vintage map of Paris in the 1800s, vintage writing, some French ads & a coffee coloured piece of music.  These can be used as backgrounds on cards; tear & distress the edges for pieces to add to projects & also for scrapbooking.  The papers are 145mm square.

At the other extreme are the Ladies in White - a 12x12" with a 4x12" strip:

as well as some of the images reduced in size so that the largest edge of either the square or the rectangle is 145mm.  This is the Ladies in White mini pack.

The images are from watercolour paintings from the Impressionist School from 1800s & 1900s.

Book of Tags by Gayle

I think 'play' is a serious understatement & I know you will agree....

Look at the following fantasy on what you can create with a 'Pack of Tags'

'Hi, Gayle here. Earlier this year I asked Meg for a few tags.........she sent me a whole pack of all sorts of different sizes. Now, I also had lots of scraps of Meg's paper left over from other projects so thought I would combine the two. That's one of the great things about these beautiful papers, they are so heavily patterned and detailed that even the tiniest scraps can be used up on other projects. There's room in this little book to add a couple of tiny photos, as well as little envelopes to tuck some journalling into. All papers are from....THE COUTURE COLLECTION and THE FORGET ME NOT COLLECTIONS 1 & 2. All the TAGS, the little HAND and HEART CHARMS, VELVET FLOWERS and PAPER DOILY are also from Meg's Garden. A tag book is a pretty and fun way to use up tiny scraps of beautiful paper.'

The above 2 pics are what Gayle calls 'collage of the tag book'.  She asked me if I wanted pics of the individual tags - I said yes please - I wanted more of this awesome little book.

Bonjour Paris Book by Adriana

Adriana has us all visiting Paris in her time travel adventure - we have saved fares & hotels because she has presented us with the best of Vintage Paris.

Adriana describes her project:

"Bonjour Paris"

'I wanted to create a theme around Paris.

Paris is such a magical city, which one day I would love to visit.

I created a book cover which holds an accordion set of pages about vintage Paris. This is a keepsake that holds a memento of a time in Paris when the Eiffel Tower was built for the World Fair in early 1889. It was to hard to bring it down so they left it there.

120 years on and it is the very symbol of Paris. A great work of Art.

This book is cover on the front and back, inside this is a folded accordion pages decorated with vintage paris pictures and vintage french ladies.

I hope I have taken you on a trip to Paris in the early 1900's.

Meg's Garden materials are:

Le Belle Jardin 6x6 papers and French Garden paper collections.

Ribbons, lace, paris charms, chipboard frame, velvet and paper flowers german scrap, gold charm little frame embellishment, small doilies, transparency bird cage and french pot, vintage french ladies collage.

The accordion pages are just black card stock with patterned papers on top, just showing a little of the black card stock around creating a border. Then the photos have a border of cream stock card, then black stock card and that's all it is all flat.'

How fantastic are these projects?
