The Monkey Tree by Stephanie

Hello Bloggers

Today we have a unique layout from Stephanie & she explains:

'I love this photo of my grandson playing on a maple tree and I thought the colors of the tree would go perfectly with the reds in the “Ode to a Summer’s Day” collection. I used the “Summer's Day” as my background paper. The next layer is a piece of light green cardstock which I punched the corners on.  I then used one of the pretty square doilies from Meg’s Garden and the final two paper layers were a “Summer's Day” and a “Summer's Dance”.'

I took a piece of cheese cloth from my stash and sprayed it with Tattered Angels Glimmer mist in “Lily Pad” and then dried it with my heat gun. I decided where I wanted to lay my photo and then glued the cheese cloth down running from the left side and bottom of the photo and poking some pieces underneath where the photo would be and glued my photo down. For my flower cluster I used the white meadows, burgundy/cream open paper roses, rose pink open paper roses and champagne kisses. I love the champagne kisses flowers, there are different sizes in the pack and the color is so soft, they would go perfectly on any layout with any papers! I also took a couple of the wire stems that I cut off the flowers and wound them around a thin paint brush, so when I took them off I had little curly Q’s to pop into the flower cluster. I used some alpha stickers from my stash for the title and then added a few gems to the layout to finish it off.'

Materials Used from Meg’s Garden
Papers – P6337 Summer’s Dance
            P6333 Summer’s Day
Bond 25 Square Doilies
Paper Flowers – White Meadows
                 Burgundy/Cream Open Paper Roses
                 Rose Pink Open Paper Roses
                 Da801 Champagne Kisses

Other Items Used
Pale Green cardstock
Cheese cloth, Alpha stickers
Tattered Angels spray in “Lily Pad”

Green gems

What a terrific layout Stephanie - well done. Love the title & the photo is totally precious.  Also love the way you have tiled the photo with the torn & distressed pieces of paper.  The flower cluster is perfect.

Shell uses her 3 kids on the Ode to a Summer's Day Collection

Hello Bloggers

Shell explains her page:

'Shell Carman here today sharing a page I created using the gorgeous Ode to a Summers Day collection. If you are as addicted to fussy cutting as I am then you will love this collection!

I have used a recent photo of my 3 kids Hunter, Kayla & Evie in our front yard. I thought it would better suit in Sepia one to match the tones of this paper collection

Because I have fussy cut so many flowers I wanted to keep the rest of the page fairly simple'

Sublime LO by Vicky

Hello Bloggers

Vicky has also chosen the same paper as Ulrika for her last project with us on the DT.

'I am back with a final layout for my year term served on Meg's Garden design team. On this project I have used a combination of beautiful papers from the The Spring Paisley and Ode to a Summer's Day collections. These collections blend together so seamlessly. I also cut a gorgeous square doily (from Meg's shop) and tucked it behind to reveal it in a few curled back areas. Next, I added some fabulous Dusty Attic chipboard and Prima flowers as well as Prima resin shutters to polish things off and frame the photo. I just adore the soft floral graphics in the papers - perfectly vintage to suit this layout of my mom on her wedding day (and my grandparents in the background).

I would just like take this opportunity to thank Meg for letting me serve on this wonderful design team for the past year, it has been a true pleasure!'

Gorgeous layout Vicky - well done.  It has been a pleasure to have you on the DT.

A Birthday Box & Card from Ulrika

Hello Bloggers

Ulrika has retired from the Design Team with this project being her last but she is going out on a high:

'First I must say Thank You Meg! Thank you for this opportunity to create with your beautiful papers.
This will be my last project as a DT for Meg´s garden. I have loved every second of it but now it´s time
to say Good Bye. But I hate Good Byes so we say See you later Alligator instead ;)

My last project is a box with a card inside. I used the large image for the lid and the small image for the card.
I think it feels very luxurious to have a box for the card and this will even fit for a wedding. On the card I also  used
the square 10cm doily. In the shop you can find really beautiful chipboard frames. I painted mine with Crackle
paint and put the image inside of it. Use your sewing machine and many layers to get the same effect as me.

For my box and card I used Ode to a Summer´s Day Collection – Buds of May.

Big Hugs from Ulrika aka LillBlomman!'

Thank you for this gorgeous project Ulrika - fabulous & well done.  We will miss you.
Love the colours in the flowers& ribbons that you used - the perfect shades for the sage & lemon of the papers.  Very simple & extremely elegant.

Bye for now

Denise does a LO using Finnabair's techniques

Hello Bloggers

Today we have a LO from Denise Ann using 2 of her papers from the Ode to a Summer's Day Collection.

She explains:

'After doing a class with Finnabair in early March this year, I really wanted to make a page using her technique, but make it my own. So before adhering it together, I sprayed the background card stock and the embellishments with Glimmer-mist  etc. I have become very fond of the filigree brass embellishments and am gathering a nice collection.'

 The papers I used are:

Dream Believe P6338

Summer's Dance P6337

Finnabair would be very proud of you Denise - well done. It is so great to see Finnabair's techniques used on your papers; and also to see how they really work using the brass embellishments along with flowers, laces & fussy cutting.

Elena shows us how to decorate a Flowers

Hello Bloggers

Elena shows us how she decorates a flower:

Supplies needed:
Flowers
Beads
Heart-shaped chipboard
Ribbon
Glimmer Glaze
Glossy Accents

Step One: Heavily cover three chipboard pieces with Glimmer Glaze

Add Glossy Accents while they're still wet
Sprinkle beads over the chipboard while they're still wet, which will serve as your glue.

Add Glimmer Glaze and Glossy Accents over the beads and let them dry.

Add a few drops of Glimmer Glaze onto the bottom flower

Remove the stems from the smaller flower, thread the ribbon through the bead and then through the flower

Adhere the beaded chipboard pieces to the flower, create the loops of the ribbon and adhere the edges under the smaller flower. Decorate the petals with larger beads.

Very beautiful Elena - well done. Great idea

A Reverse Canvas by Sandrine

Hello Bloggers

Sandrine's reverse canvas is fantastic:

'I thought to create something a little bit different this month, I wanted to incorporate Meg’s gorgeous lace in there as well and a little bit of mixed media elements.

I turned my mini canvas around, covered the wood with masking tape and covered in Gesso, when dry I added some modeling paste through a stencil in the corners. The inside frame was created with lace that I glued and painted with Gesso, I love the texture it created.

“You”

Here you can see the layers of paper, border, chipboard and stitching:
