Card and Gift Box Set

Hello friends of Meg's Garden! Today I am sharing a card and gift box set with that I have created using papers from the stunning Butterfly Collection. When I saw this collection, my heart skipped a few beats as I simply love butterflies! I also love the rustic feel of this collection and of course the butterflies and the ephemera that is available.

For the design of my card, I picked up a blue/green hue from the paper and used it as my embellishment colour. I also used some Spellbinder's dies to create some borders to add an elegant touch to my card.

The box was decorated in a similar way to the card. I used a 4 x 12" strip to decorate the entire box. I also used similar flowers as well as fussy cut a butterfly to add dimension. I used some left over cardstock and Spellbinders Venetian Motifs die to create the corner piece on the four edges of the base of the box.

The French Garden Book Kit " One Fine Day" By Suzanne Crowther

Hi everyone hope your all well and getting ready for Christmas. I must say this would be a great kit to buy for someone it is awesome. For the cover cut your front and back cover 5 ¾ x 8 1/2 , I used a hard cardboard for this book. Cut and trim all your paper and place them between the cover and make sure they fit in nicely, trim if needed. Mark and punch the holes making sure your pages ae facing the way you want. This is a nice easy book. Gather your supplies I use couture creations cutting mat, knife, trimmer, glue dots, two way tape and Helmar glue (quick dry 450)

The Cover:

I used a beautiful paper on the cover found in the French Garden kit. I fussy cut the gate out and sprayed it with ink and glimmer mist, when dry I added some viva ferro to give the gate dimension I also put some flowers and the beautiful rose buds found at Megs Garden. The gate was glued to the bottom section of the over I also added the lock from Megs Garden.

The Pages:

I glued all the pages together as this paper quality is amazing and a good weight, I let the pages dry and when dry ink all the edges. I placed a heavy book on them which kept them very flat. I like to prepare all my pages first and then with all the work done I can play with the embellishments, ribbons and all the beautiful bits and bobs Meg sent me.

Page 1

I picked a page from the French Garden Kit in a soft green the other side had a darker green. So working on the light side I used a frame which I gessod I added a bit of metallic paint in gold. I stamped a sentiment and the butterfly is from the butterfly sheet found at Megs Garden. I did sew some yellow ribbon and then I added some flowers I also added flowers and leaves to the frame. Leaves have lots of gesso on them and the word cherish is cut from the paper inked in vintage. Photo is young Miss Charlotte my granddaughter.

Page 2

For this page I firstly used a white pen and highlighted the bird bath adding a bit more white to the wings of the birds. I then cut out the centre of a doily adding a photo this was polaced at the top of the page and I added a piece of lace to this. I placed a sentiment and stamped this page. I cut a 1 ½ inch scalloped circle from the paper and added the music circle, I inked in magenta and added glossy accents when fully dry glued to bottom left of doily frame.

Page 3:

This page had a beautiful chair with lots of flowers, my problem was this is such a pretty paper what to do was my question? I added a photo then I drew the chair over the photo as if charlotte was walking away this allowed the beautiful paper to shine. I added a crochet doily some flowers and leaves from Megs Garden. I did add gesso to the leaves to soften them. I used a rub on and paper from the kit in the top left of paper.

Page: 4

This age I matted a photo because I added a pocket to the left side adding some of the emphera from the kit. I painted up an odd piece of dusty attic chip I had and it fitted perfectly. This has been kept simple by just adding 3 beautiful butterflies from the acetate sheet adding a bit of bling to a couple of butterflies.

Page 5:

This is a pretty page with these beautiful doilies from Megs Garden, I cut the doily in half and placed it behind the photo I also added some beautiful trim. I put a rub-on on the label I then inked the edges and added the acetate butterflies and a small birdcage to the top left and just a bit of doodling to the edges.

Page 6:

The kit had this stunning frame which I loved so I fussy cut it out and added a sentiment I then inked the edges in magenta. I have added another doily this one has been folded, inked and glued behind the frame. I added some trim and a flower from Megs Garden. I decided to add some flowers to the bottom left frame.

Page 7:

This is a lovely page, I stamped a few bird cages onto the beautiful paper. I also cut 2 bird cages out of the kit. I added some gold trim from Megs Garden, the bird cages were inked and I used 3d dots to put them on the page. I fussy cut the bigger cameo frame and I added some card stock to the back it was inked in green. The label was also inked in green and I added some doily to the edge. The cameo frames look good together and I added some black trim to the bottom of the page. I topped this with some beautiful flowers from Megs Garden and a die cut butterfly, the word beauty from the emphera pack. Between these pages is a half journaling page to write in at a later date.

Page 13:

I kept the theme going with birds and cages on this page. I used a piece of the emphera and I fussy cut the centre out I then placed a photo behind it inked it with magenta and added a sparkly bow. The bird cage has been painted also the bird, I then covered the bird with gloss accents, and the cage has a coat of Kindy glitz. The little charm butterfly from Megs Garden adds some more interest in the page. The little bird on the top of the cage was painted red and Kindy glitz added. The 2 acetate butterflies I cut from the sheet, I have added some rhinestones.
