Winner for Design Team Challenge Theme

Hi
Having chosen the new DT & had some wonderful comments on the quality of the Design Team, how do you challenge such talent?

The 1st two challenges for me were easy - Christmas using the Christmas Collection & then Summer - holidays, by the sea etc.  Then we sponsored The Color Room &  used Denise Anne's new Collection - Le Belle Jardin - that was January & the layouts produced by the DT & by all at The Color Room were fantastic & very inspiring.

For the 4th challenge I was going to CHA, had to get it done before I left & be ready for when I got back -   so I asked the girls to choose their own using 'Vintage ..., Victorian... or Parisian...' as the theme - this is always a great topic; and for this last challenge, the same theme was on the board but they should use a different one than used in the 4th challenge.

This is the 6th challenge for the original members of the DT.  The projects that have been presented in each of the challenges have been incredibly awesome!!!  & I now have to challenge them again - they have done cards, layouts, tryptichs, little books, boxes & more BUT they have not done an accordion book & I just happen to have a kit in my Garden - Done!! - Challenge decided!!.

The new members of the DT start their term in April & I have been looking at the previous Collections for inspiration.  I also need to remember that some of the new members of the DT do not have any Meg's Garden stash & that they live Upover (the opposite of Downunder) & that the mail takes a while so 'you know who' has to be very organised - challenges known in advance, dates set, stash provided & themes to inspire.  New drawing Board to be set up.

Does anyone have any ideas?? Would love to hear them.  Any DT girls have any ideas??
Please Help!!  A special RAK to the winners

Bye for now

Vintage Gentleman

Hello
Gayle presents 2 projects using her 'Vintage Gentleman' Theme.
She describes it as:
'An altered box...a gift box for a bloke. In it you could put....a Bunnings voucher, theatre or Fringe tickets, small pewter hip flask,  pen or calligraphy set, a new iphone ?.
Paper used was Graphic45 Communique Collection Pen in Hand & ATC A4 Rulers.'

Gayle is renowned for her boxes! and this one is awesome.

Her layout is fabulous - the person of interest is her father in 1946 - a very handsome gentleman - he would love your work.

Well done Gayle

Vintage Gentleman

Hi
Gayle continues with her Vintage Gentleman theme.
My second project is a card. Because Feb is the month of "love" and because my theme is "Vintage Gentleman", I've done a card that could be given to the man in your life.

I have used Meg's Garden ATC A4 paper......."Vintage French Couples"  and  A4 Collage Paper......." Suitcases For Travelling".  I've added lace, a "Vintaj Brass" Scrolled Ornate Corner, beautiful satin ribbon, and gorgeous " Garnet Forget Me Not " velvet flowers, ALL FROM MEG'S GARDEN.

Beautifully done Gayle - a fabulous departure from the browns & greys that seem to be the norm with cards for men.

Microscope Slide Mailer

Good morning

Gayle's theme for February is 'Vintage Gentleman' & she starts by creating an unique Glass Slide Mailer.

According to Gayle "GLASS SLIDE MAILER :
I had never seen  glass slides before, except in Biology at school, or "the mailer", and had no idea what to do with them. Anyway, "the mailer" is a very sturdy chipboard folder with a recessed area inside that holds the glass slide and so protects it in the mail. ( Meg has a slide show on the shop site that demos these ). This little "folder" is very cute, very robust and like a ready made little book, just waiting to be painted, inked, papered, embossed and decorated. The thing I love about it is how strong it is, and how it can support heavy duty metal embellishments."

Firstly I wet embossed the inside of "the mailer" with a B Line stamp.......Postmark Collage, and embossed it with walnut stain Distress Powder. Next I covered the inside recessed area and the front and the back. I used Meg's Garden A4 Collage Papers for this......Travel Labels and Suitcases For Travelling. After inking all the edges I wrapped very fine black wire around the spine and attached a couple of metal charms and made a rustic, ruffled flower with a metal centre for the front. On the inside I added a metal corner and little metal clock face.

The Glass slides & Mailers can be found  at Glass Slides & Mailers

The mailer is truly fantastic Gayle - totally love it - well done

Hello
Today we are featuring a talented Guest designer from Canada. Keren has come to us via The Color Room - http://thecolorroom.ning.com/ where she saw the papers, then went to Meg's Garden & purchased some of the new collection - Le Belle Jardin. She then created a beautiful LO, sent me pics & here she is:

My name is Keren Tamir and I'm 37 years old. I am a wife to a wonderful husband who is very supportive of my scrapbooking hobby and a mother of two amazing kids; a 10 year old boy and a 5 years old girl. I've been scrapbooking for 8 years and I mainly scrapbook about my family. I love to create and experiment with many different mediums and techniques.
I believe my style is shabby chic vintage with a hint of whimsy. I love designing with flowers, butterflies, doilies and lace. I scrapbook mainly layouts however I do love making mini-albums and just recently I began making different altered projects. Every once in a while I like getting a little grungy and distressing my pages with many paints, mists and inks. My style is always evolving and that’s one of the things I love about this hobby.
One of the main reasons why I started scrapbooking was to preserve memories and photos for my children and grandchildren. However in this past year, I’ve started to enjoy another aspect of scrapbooking. I love the artistic outlet that it gives me. It has become an obsession, a healthy addiction which helps me relax in life. I love it so much and I hope to scrapbook for many years to come!!
I’m honoured that my layout is being featured at Meg’s Garden!!
Enjoy,
Keren

Enjoyed featuring you Keren - a beautiful layout

Vintage Memories Book

Hi
Sandie has done a Vintage Book - 'done' is the understatement in blogging world
How vintage, elegant & gorgeous!!!

“Vintage Memory Book”
Created using a Kaisercraft wood album, painted with Gesso, and aged using various mediums.  I have left the pages blank to show the gorgeous detail in each of the papers. The papers used come from several different card makers, paper packs.  Envelopes were added, which would be perfect for holding memorabilia, photographs or journaling.  Paper doilies were used to decorate, as well as, beautiful guipure lace and fussy cut elements from various Meg’s Garden papers.  A range of flowers were used, and other trinkets.

Products Used:
Various Papers from Meg's Garden Card Makers Sets
Several Laces
Various Ribbons
Tassels
Chipboard Frame (aged via crackle medium, paint and inks)
Vintage Images
Transparency
Paper Doilies
Tim Holtz Tickets
Pearl Strand

Well done Sandie, a challenge & inspiration for us all. Love the envelopes with doilies & embellishments

Back from CHA

Hi
Back from CHA - it was fabulous - every year it shrinks a bit more & it has become so expensive that the smaller companies have decided not to participate. It is a great pity because there have to be some great products, papers & ideas in that area.

Prima has the mose extensive range of flowers you have ever seen.
Tim Holtz has great new inks, pencils etc & is still the master of demonstrating.
Graphic 45 had a fabulous stand with the most amazing projects on it - the staff were all dressed in vintage & looked great.
A lot of companies are being merged or purchased so seem to be disappearing

Lot of vinatge papers, lots of flowers, lots of beaded swirls & embellishments.  Martha Stewart stand was a quarter of 1 stand & there appeared to be noone there - quite odd.

My goal for being there was to see how my papers stood up against the ones there; see what new products were out, trends in colours & products etc.  My goals were met.

Since I have been back I have allowed myself a couple of days of dejetlagging (is that a word?), pampering my little dog (she does not think I am done), getting orders out (not totally done yet) & replying to emails (did not take a laptop with me- next time I will).

I now need to decide on the new DT; the next Challenge & a whole bunch more

Can now say that my Blog is up to date - hehe & LOL!!

Bye for now
Meg
