Hello & happy Easter

Eila cannot just do one layout - when she is on a roll just watch out.

This layout shows Eila's superb talent for fussy cutting & is absolutely wonderful - look at the gorgeous butterflies adding dimension to the layout; the arrangement of the flowers in the corners giving it weight & balance.

Eila describes her layout she calls 'So Much Fun' as:

'Here I have used one of the papers from the Le Belle Jardin Collection - Ma Fleur Rose P6296 - and combined with bouquets of fussy cut spring blooms from the new collection, a mauve velvet pansy and delicious fussy-cut butterflies.

Once again the photo is not my own, I found it on internet. It caught my eye because of the happy feel it has to it, just look at that little girl in her dotted rainhat and cute little mac.  I have tried to convey a feeling of sweetness, fresh spring and lots of the fun little people have when running'.

You have certainly conveyed that Eila - and beautifully.

Thanks Eila.  It is a gorgeous layout & I am sure we all wish that we could run around having fun like that.

We are going into Autumn now in Australia & have just put our clocks back 1 hour so fresh spring here is just a memory but always nice to remember.  The leaves here are starting to change colour & fall & it is almost time to pull out the electric blanket & more coverings for the beds.

But it is springtime in this blog today.

Birds in Forget me Nots

Hello

Eila presents her layout project that she calls 'New Spring Shoes'.
She is using Birds in Forget Me Nots P6303 with some beautiful flowers & embellishments. Love the pearl centres on the forget me nots - they really make the layout stand out. Also love the cut out butterflies. In fact, I love every bit of it.

This is what Eila says about her layout: 'The photo is not one of my own, I found it in our county photo archives. However, it could very well have been me standing there on a visit to town in the 1960's although this photo was taken in the 1950's.

Each spring mummy and I travelled into town to buy us both new spring shoes. For as long as I can remember, they were always brown and very sensible with shoe laces. My dad used to polish the shoes of our family on Sunday mornings before going to church. For him it was important that they didn't look scuffed. I don't think I have to say that the first pair of shoes that I bought with my own money were RED!

The new papers are a paper-and-scissor-girl's dream, so many gorgeous details one can cut out! I really love the stripey old-fashioned paper combined with the sweet forget-me-nots.'

And Eila, the stripey old-fashioned paper really loves you & the combination is gorgeous - well done!

DETAILS OF BIRD ART JOURNAL

'I decided to make my accordion kit into a mini book, A Mini Bird Art Journal.

First I covered the foam covers with Music sheet paper, then glued the pages together, so it formed 6 pages to decorate. I wanted this book to look like a study of different birds - a vintage journal style book, with a very rustic feel to it.

Before I glued the covers to the inside pages, I used Tim Holtz Die cut “Hardware Finding” using the long hinged shape, cut out of Grungeboard, I inked them and secured it in place with brads. This created a hinge for my mini book. Then glued the pages to the cover. All the lace I used from Meg’s Garden was white, I stained them with distress inks to make them look vintage colour. I did the same to the Paper doilies.

Victorian Era

Gayle has approached her Victorian layout in her own unique way - a page of contrast.

Victorian Era from Sandie

Sandie has taken us into the Victorian era with a gorgeous Memory Canvas wall hanging, framed Victorian Flowers & a Victorian Tri-fold Tag Card.

Sandie says:      'The Victorian Era (1847 – 1901 with the reign of Queen Victoria) was a time in history when many new beginnings unfolded, and individuals described the era a time of ‘enlightenment’.  It was an era of change, and those who were in the middle class and upwards lived, surrounded in opulence.  Women created beautiful ornate embroideries, tapestries and wore beautiful gowns, their waists tiny, from the tight capture of a corset.

My creations were inspired by this era, rich and opulent, ornate and delicate.....'

The Forget Me Not Collection

Denise Ann has designed some beautiful new papers- The Forget Me Not Collection.

It is a  stunning range of papers in elegant shades of blues, cream & greys.

Perfect to embellish with lace & flowers; a round doily or some of the new German Glass Glitters in Robins Egg Blue or the Cameo.  The new Paper Gardenias distressed with Broken China or Antique Linen inks are fabulous as are the Blue & White apple blossom flowers;  do not forget the velvet vintage Forget me Nots in Cream & Antique Blue or the fringe tassels in Champagne & Silver Blue.  The Butterfly transparency (Tr015) is also great for cutting butterflies for embellishing.

It is only fitting that her projects start the ball rolling with the new Design Team.

Adriana describes her project:

"Bonjour Paris"

'I wanted to create a theme around Paris.

Paris is such a magical city, which one day I would love to visit.

I created an 2 cards and a book cover which holds an accordion set of pages about vintage Paris. This is a keepsake that holds a memento of a time in Paris when the Eiffel Tower was built for the World Fair in early 1889. It was to hard to bring it down so they left it there.

120 years on and it is the very symbol of Paris. A great work of Art.

This book is cover on the front and back, inside this is a folded accordion pages decorated with vintage paris pictures and vintage french ladies.

I hope I have taken you on a trip to Paris in the early 1900's.

Meg's Garden materials are:

Le Belle Jardin 6x6 papers and French Garden paper collections.

Ribbons, lace, paris charms, chipboard frame, velvet and paper flowers german scrap, gold charm little frame embellishment, small doilies, transparency bird cage and french pot, vintage french ladies collage.

The accordion pages are just black card stock with patterned papers on top, just showing a little of the black card stock around creating a border. Then the photos have a border of cream stock card, then black stock card and that's all it is all flat.'

How fantastic are these projects?
