Hello Bloggers
Helen is here with her own Christmas gift:
'Today
I’ve used another of the beautiful ‘Tis Christmas Collection, “Christmas
Decorations”. I wanted to show that a Christmas layout does not always
have to be red and green. With this softer green paper, I combined some
Autumn tones to compliment the Antique Doll.
The
little bow on the left is on a tag which when pulled out reveals the
journalling for Annabelle.
My Mother was the oldest of nine children, at a time when
money was scarce and toys were treasured. I once asked her what sort of
toys she had as a child and her eyes glistened with tears as she described how
sad she felt when her only toy, a Christmas gift from her Godparents, was
broken by one of her younger sisters. I asked what the doll looked like
and scoured the state, looking for an antique doll for her 80th birthday.
She looked puzzled as she opened her gift and asked “Do you think I’m reverting
to childhood?” Having assured her I thought no such thing, she gently
lifted the doll from the tissue paper, stroked her hair, examined her dress and
nestled her in the crook of her arm saying, “She looks a lot like my little
Annabelle that got broken all those years ago.” Dec 2013
