A gorgeous layout from Adriana using the new collection:

'Hi there everyone, 

today on the Meg's Garden blog 

I am sharing a project with you all, using the latest paper collection 

"Damask Garden"

designed by Denise Boddey.

I firstly paint this old frame, which I had

in the cupboard, it was all gold, but with

a coat of spray paint and a touch of

off white paint. This old frame has a new shabby chic

appearance.

The papers I used are;

Damask Blue and Cream stripe

Damask Birds & Bees

Damask shades of Green

Damask Blue Belle Jardiniere

 I created some flower

clusters on the bottom, and each side of the frame

and also added touches of diamante bling and German scrap trims.

All the flowers and trims are all

available from Meg's Garden website.

I used nesting dies from Couture Creations,

 to create all the layers shapes.

We continue with projects using the Damask Garden papers with a card from Kerry-Jean:

Using the new 

The Damask Garden Mini Pack S120 and painstakingly cutting out the butterflies from More Butterflies Tr004 , I wanted to achieve a spring garden feeling in a card. I just love the butterflies! 

I distressed the edges of my patterned paper and inked it and then cut out 2 frames on my Silhouette: Cameo and inked those as well. Naturally where there are butterflies there are flowers too. So I used the Azaleas - paper flowers azalea, Mini Rosebuds - white 1cm gt-w, Mini Rosebuds - ivory 1cm gt-iv, Small White paper Roses Wh Paper,  Small Latte Paper Roses latte roses, Green paper leaves - sm gr leaves sm.

A very beautiful card - well done Kerry-Jean.  An extremely spring garden achieved. Love the frames & the many layers of flowers, leaves & curly wires.  The effect of the butterflies is awesome & the combination of greens, creams & pastels is simply gorgeous.

Heritage Layout by Kerry-Jean

We continue with the DT promo collection with a heritage LO from Kerry-Jean using the new collection titled The Damask Garden Collection.  

'As part of the promotion of this collection the design team got together and created some projects.  

I started this layout by coloring my flowers. I really wanted flowers that coordinated with the papers. So I used Tim Holtz distress reinkers: Peeled Paint, Broken China and Black soot. Using a small amount of each color in different ratios, I added the ink to water in a mini misters, then sprayed my plain white 

Azaleas - paper flowers azalea,  Gardenia - 3 layer White gar wh, Mini Rosebuds - white 1cm gt-w, Small White paper Roses Wh Paper.

Using the Damask Labels  P6382 and a few pieces from French Writing Ephemera 3377 I created a simple but very effective layout. I started by cutting out the labels and ephemera. I used my Prima distressing tool to achieve that really aged look. 

After working out my layout I stuck everything down and then misted the page with a bit of watered down gesso and some of the left over ink from the flower misting. I added the stencil design after to add some more detail that the layout was needing. 

After my flowers dried came the fun part, incorporating them in to the layout. I love adding the rose buds to flower clusters like this, adds a lovely level of details. After that flowers were added I noticed there was still some thing missing, leaves. Which were added sparingly. 

This is a very beautiful heritage LO - well done Kerry-Jean. An excellent use of the labels & the layering & distressing of them is fabulous.  Love the stencil design & the splatters - just the right amount of each.  The colouring of the flowers is perfect - the mix of blues & greens complements the papers & creates the perfect amount of colour to the LO.  The leaves are a gorgous fresh finishing touch.

In Step with Damask Papers by Marg

Today e start with the fabulous projects from the Damask Paper Collection displayed at the paper promo

'Hello everyone and welcome to the Meg’s Garden Blog.

   Margaret here again to show you another Step  Card, this time made with the beautiful new Damask range of papers.

As you can see, I’ve incorporated a few different papers in this card to create the layers.  Some of these papers are from the Mini Pack and some are  scraps from the 12 x 12 sheets left over from another project.  The side panels were stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black.

Here I’ve used a square doily which was cut in half and scrunched up a bit and placed a torn bit of the paper over  that.  I then added a piece of lace and another strip of torn paper.  I love using odd bits of paper.  The uneven edges look more interesting to me than regular straight cuts.  The flourish and the twigs were cut with my Silhouette and the label was fussy cut from the mini papers.  You’ll also see I’ve inserted some small branches in between some of the layers for extra interest.  The small gem sprays are from Magnolia Ink.

Just a closie of the layers.  You can also see that I’ve used a little bit of gesso in the corners.

This gorgeous flower was white originally, but it simply looked too stark against the rest of the card so I decided to give it a bit of a make-over.  I gave it a burst with My Lindy’s Stamp Gang Starburst Spray in Sea Grass Green and ‘Voila’ now it fits in beautifully.  Well, I think it does anyway.   I love that the centre is now more or less a solid green and the petals have also got some spots of colour as well.  Wetting the flower with the spray actually caused it to open out a bit and gave it more dimension … you could say the spray made it blossom!

The chippie border is from Little Birdie and I’ve simply

 colored that with some watered down Acrylic Paint.

And there you have it.   My Centre Step Card made with the New Damask Collection Papers.  These papers are truly beautiful - so much detail and such lovely colour.  Why not visit the shop and have a closer look, you won’t be sorry.

Damask Garden Promotion

The Craft Trap invited Meg's Garden to promote the Damask Garden Paper Collection at their beautiful store yesterday.  The Design Team ladies created some awesome projects to display the many different styles of work using the same paper collection.  Denise Boddey did a LO class to several students from the Craft Trap; 3 of the DT ladies attended & did a fabulous show & tell using their projects.

It was a fun day for all.

This month I thought I would create a steampunk / grungy masculine Tag 
for my man on his birthday .

These papers are perfect  for anything masculine . 

I feel the little pop of red is a smashing idea, creating contrast to the darkness of the earthy browns

 Red is the color of love, so I thought,  with Baden's birthday coming up ,

 what better than to create a tag , as an expression of my love . 

I covered a tiny heart shape in these papers and tied it with string .

I fussy cut the clock and light bulb and stacked them securing them with a brad .

 I love the look of stacked images and I added some pieces of inked chipboard .

I don’t feel a tag is complete without creating on the back side .

Here is an image of how I  decorated the back with these stunning papers.
I combined this with Baden's Birthday and Valentines day ..

Meg's Bundles of Goodies

Denise arranged to have a special promotion at some of the local stores in Adelaide for one of her new designs - The Damask Garden Collection.  As a special feature for the days, she requested that the local girls on the Design Team (we meet for lunch once a month), design some projects using the collection for a spectacular display table.  These projects will be featured on the blog this month. From what I have seen so far they are totally fabulous.

The colours in the collection are shades of blues & greens.  I thought that I had better contribute something so I pulled out ribbons in different shades & textures - organza, plaid & double sided satin, then the flowers in silk, velvet & paper, embellishments in different levels - pearls, glitz and then some diamante trim, pearls & beads, little bottle to put the tiny beads in & anything else that I thought might work.  Forgot the fibres

When I saw the blue & green collection of goodies, I thought maybe you would like them too.  So I put my projects aside & created the following bundles of temptation.

Each collection of colour bundles to tempt contains:

12m ribbons, 1 or 2 bottles of beads, 4mm double sided satin ribbon, a handful of fibres, diamante trim, paper petals, beads, genie stones, velvet daisies, silver pearls.  Each bundle will change slightly as I run out of goodies & find more to add.

'Hello bloggers, this is my first post as a Meg's Garden design team
member. I am so thrilled to be here and those that know me
will know I love flowers and frills, so I should be right at
home. 

I loved the iron fencing on this paper and thought straight away of a garden

with a fairy in it. Of course the photo is of  my daughter, now a lot older, but still

she was my little fairy back then.

To start with I have fussy cut the gate and layered over the top of the 

image on the bottom. This way I could make the gate

seem a little further up the page.

I love to alter papers, even when they are as nice the Damask Garden Collection.

I have splattered a little purple Glimmer mist and White dylusions over the surface 

to add depth to the background.

I love to coil the wire on paper roses and dab them with 

a little gesso to soften the look.

I have cut out the striped flowers in the Damask labels. I like to roughly

cut them out first, then use a dry glue stick to adhere

the shape to smooth white cardstock.

Then I fussy cut the image, this makes the element sturdy and 

you can attach it to your layout with less 3 D foam tape.

Ink the edges with black ink to disguise the white card on the sides.

I have done this for the vines at the top right of the 

layout too.

I have sprayed the chipboard gate with black spray paint, then covered with Dimensional magic

while wet I added micro beads. Allow to dry, then

swipe with gesso to bring up the texture of the micro beads

I have trimmed the tassels of the band and adhered them to the rail of 

the gate.
