Orchid - Combined Meg's Garden and CSI challenge 128

Hello everyone, thanks for calling in.
It's Helen here.
Today I’m sharing a layout as a double agent for
MEG'S GARDEN
Meg is sponsoring the CSI  challenge this week
I don’t use a lot of purple, but my photo was just right for the colours this week.
I’d love you to hop over and have a look at the stunning layouts
 created by both Design Teams.
To solve the case, just use all the colours, at least two of the evidence clues
and at least one of the testimony clues.
I used the gorgeous Correspondence collection,
"Distressed Letter" P6402 by Kerry-Jean Watson, (green)
and "A French Account" P6401 (neutral)
The marbled purple (amethyst) is also from Meg’s Garden,
as is the jewel bright, purple brad.
Texture was added with Jo Sonja texture paste
and a little colour with Tim Holtz distress ink.
The required blue and white colours are in this little cluster
Cream alphas are by Prima and fit within the permitted
 10 percent additional colour.

EVIDENCE
Flowers
Distressing
Pearls
Metal (on the brad)

TESTIMONY
I went to the journal jar prompt and was inspired by this question.

What little things have happened to you lately that have really touched you or made a huge difference in your day?

The journalling is on the back of the page and it reads:-

This glorious orchid was grown by a neighbour of mine.  He and his wife have been having a bit of a tough time over the last few years, but they’ve picked themselves up, dusted themselves off and created new ways of giving their lives meaning.  Their generosity is legendary, yet they see themselves as ordinary people.

I called in to see them briefly this week and was given a stem of orchids from their greenhouse.  Their random act of kindness has stayed with me all week.  The vibrant colour, the unusual fragrance and the exquisite shape of the spray, is a feast for my eyes and brightens the hallway with it’s beauty.  Their simple act of generosity has enhanced my week and created a bubble of joy every time I look at it.  Why is it so?  I think it’s to do with the random nature of the gift.  I wasn’t expecting it and somehow that makes the gift even more special.   Just as an unprovoked rude response from someone, can cause intense sadness, so too, does this give intense joy. It has made me to think about how I interact with others and decide to pay it forward whenever I have the opportunity.  “Let us be grateful to people who make us happy.  They are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.”   Marcel Proust
Thanks for calling in to Meg's Garden, I hope you check out the beautiful store
and play along with the challenge.   You may be lucky enough to the
a generous pack of gorgeous products.

"Love You" layout by Adriana Bolzon

Hello there everyone, Adriana here with a layout I created
for Meg's Garden and with the challenge site at
 CSI

Some of Meg's Garden DT are Special Detectives
this month and had to create our
pages with the latest paper collection designed by Kerry Watson

Here is my layout..... "Love You"

I distressed all the edges of  The Correspondence Collection papers
and placed some of them around and behind the photo.
These papers are great for backgrounds.

Also creating pleated paper fish tails under the photo
and using a leaf die cut and punch
These papers are fabulous for little touches like this.

Meg's Garden
CSI case No 128
By Sue Smyth
This layout is inspired by a layout I saw some years ago, using a large tear in the paper. I have kept it in the back of my mind as a neat way to start a layout. So when Case 128 came up, I \
knew Megs Garden correspondence papers would work well
with the idea and colours in the case.

Scheme
Purples, creams and greens are some of my favourite colours and suit heritage photos
so well. I have used all of the colours in the scheme and matched them with
sepia vintage photo

Evidence
Some of the Evidence I have used is
numbers, door, flowers, berries, beads, pearls, ribbon bow, frame, metal, punches, pastels
Testimony
The testimony I have used is the Door entrance theme, as in to a new life for
this couple, with the pages of their life/papers rolled back to reveal them
and the words Memory Lane is inspired by the word Walk.

The berries are made with cotton buds, with dimensional magic coated over
the top, dip them in micro beads and allow to dry.
Then paint with gesso and spray with a pomegranate mist.
Snip off and adhere as a berry, I think they
look awesome.

The Dodo vine is altered, by painting with gesso, either spray or just
with a brush. Allow to dry and spray with
adhesive, roll in white glitter.
This will make sparkly vines, you can
gently wind them around a skewer to
enhance the tendril shape. Snip onto pieces
to use on the layout.

Soften the edges with random punching with lacy border\
punches and blend Distress inks over the edge.
Add a cute little tassel for a
really vintage look.

Marg's Solution?? for CSI Case File #128

Hello everyone!!  A very warm welcome to you!
Meg's Garden is one of the sponsors over at CSI for the month of June and a few of our DT girls are Guest Detectives.  As I don't Scrapbook, I could not take part, but I decided to use the Case File to create a project of my own.
This is the current Case File ...
... to see the full details, find it HERE.

For this case I decided to create a double Art Journal page.
I first laid down some scraps of  Meg's Garden 'Correspondence' papers and sprayed directly onto the page with 'Sugar Plum Fairy' Glimmer Mist.
I will leave a list of Meg's Garden Products at the end of this post.
I then scrunched up a paper towel, sprayed it with 'Afraid of the Dark' Glimmer Mist and pounced it around the page.  I also used this technique with more of the 'Sugar Plum Fairy'.  I absolutely love the textured look you end up with from using this method to apply the colour.  It's so soft and pretty.  You get a better idea of what I mean in this photo.
My bit of green is on this gorgeous image which is from the 'Vintage Ladies Microscope Art Sheet''.  I also brushed some 'Sugar Plum Fairy' around the edges of the paper strips and added some splats for a bit more definition although most of that got covered over.  Used some Kaisercraft Background and Border Stamps with Memento Tuxedo Black and also used the same ink to create some more splats around the page.  Added a little texture with TCW's Mini Tile Stencil and some home made texture paste.
My bit of pale blue is on the 'Vintage Trinkets' which were firstly swiped with gesso and then brushed with some Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Spray in 'Whale Watch Blue'.
I love that heart stamp.  It was a freeby that came with a crafting magazine.  The clock and the clock hands were cut from the 'Old World Time' Transparency Sheet.
The background on this page was created exactly the same way.  Same papers, same colours, same stamps.  Here though I've added a butterfly cut from the 'More Butterflies' Transparency Sheet, and the Oval Trinket was brushed with a mix of gesso and Viva Precious Metal Colour in 'Olive'.
Here is a closie of the butterfly and you can see more detail of the background too.
Another clock hand also cut from the 'Old World Time' Transparency sheets.  Meg does stock metal clock hands in the shop but, unfortunately, I didn't have any on hand.
With these Case Files you have to use all the 'Colours', at least two items from the 'Evidence' and at least one item from the 'Testimony'.
Well, I have used all the 'Colours' although perhaps not in the right shades but I totally got caught up in the moment when creating these pages that I completely forgot about the Evidence and the Testimony.    It is pure luck that I actually have metal and a flower on my pages which does cover the 'Evidence' but this was certainly not planned.  There is definitely no 'Testimony'.
Just as well I wasn't in on the GD spot isn't it??  Totally went off the rails, but I so enjoyed creating this and I am so happy with the result.  Hope you like it too.

Products from Meg's Garden:
Correspondence Mini Paper Pack
Vintage Ladies Microscope Art Sheet
Vintage Brad - Blue
Vintage Trinkets - Filigree Flower,  Filigree Oval, Filigree Strip
Transparencies - Old World Time, More Butterflies

Thank you so much for visiting.  I do hope you enjoy the rest of your day,
Take care and God Bless

Correspondence Card 14

Hello Bloggers:

Two colors that go really well with the Correspondence collection is orange and a greeny sage colour. This was why I used the Latte Heirloom 4cm flowers for the card with the Ivory Heirloom 6.5cm  flower with a few of the paper roses.  I loved the Cotton Lace but I wanted some thing to bring in some contrast which is why I use the Finnabair Vintage Trinket -Washer. I love those Tim Holtz Plaquettes with the number on it. with has been foam taped to the card just for some dimension. It's feminine, has flowers and lace, you need to have a couple butterflies (LOVE), the big one is from the Butterflies Tr015 sheet and the other is from the Tr004 sheet More New butterflies.

Moments by Heather

Hi everyone
A great big warm welcome here at Megs Garden
Today I have created another Layout
featuring the glorious new Correspondence collection
designed by Kerry-Jean Watson for Megs Garden

Here is my layout with the new papers.

MOMENTS
I love to light candles each night and watch the dappled light create a soft relaxing atmosphere.
when I saw these papers I knew I would use this photograph .
I used lots of layering with diecuts .
These blooms work in perfectly with the theme .
a cluster of the rose buds, the small ivory roses
with some diecut leaves .

I cut this heart with the paper and then light rubbed on some Rusty hinge distress ink
to create contrast ( these papers absorb the distress ink beautifully )
for the final touch I applied some crackle paint and a vintage brad .

lots of layering of diecuts with touches of Rusty Hinge distress ink .
more layering under the photo
I find that the extra strips of matching paper
are just fabulous for layering on my work .

Items Used from Megs Garden

thanks for dropping by and I hope you are inspired to have a play
with these brand new papers.
bye for now until next time,
take care and happy scrapping x

'Correspondence' Booklet from Marg

Hello everyone and welcome to Meg's Garden.
Margaret here to share a Mini Booklet created with the wonderful new 'Correspondence' Mini Paper Pack and I've also used a few items from the 'Green Bundle' that Meg sells in the store.  This little booklet was made as a small  gift for my Granddaughter, she loves flowers and butterflies.  Usually she would want everything in pink but she tells me she's growing up (she's 11) and is getting too old for pink!!  LOL

Here is the cover.  As stated before, the papers are from the Mini Paper Pack.  I've created a few layers here although they are not too easy to see.  The ribbon used to close the booklet is from the Bundle pack.  There are quite a lot of ribbons in the pack and it was difficult to chose as they are all so pretty but I think the green stripe suits this little booklet perfectly.

The heart diamante strip is also from the Bundle as is the gorgeous green heart gem.  As well as lots of ribbon, there are also lots of beautiful gems in this Bundle.  I loved going through it when it first arrived.  It was like getting a little Birthday present,  didn't know what was going to come out next.  If you'd like to see for yourself exactly what is in this Bundle of goodies HERE is the link.

Did some stencilling on the front with Crushed Olive  Distress Ink, although that ended up being mostly covered but here you can see some of the layers a bit more clearly.  Love the different scripts on these papers ... gorgeous!!

The first double page which I also stenciled lightly with Crushed Olive Distress Ink.  The small green paper flower is also out of the Bundle packet.  See what I mean about the script??  Love it!!

The second double page, again with more script.  I guess that's why this collection is called "Correspondence'.  LOL!  Some more stenciling, this time with Fired Brick Distress Ink.  These papers take the ink very well.

These pages have a little bit of stamping and, of course, butterflies.  Looooove butterflies!!

More stamping and some more ribbon  from the Bundle Pack ...

... and more Butterflies!!!

These pages are coloured  with Distress Ink and stamped as well ...

 ... and more stenciling here.

The back cover was stenciled as well, and I'd like to thank my Dragon babies for holding the pages open for me.  Great job guys!!

I do hope you liked my little booklet, I certainly had a great time creating it.  These papers are so lovely to work with and they take the stamping and inking very well. The items from the Temptations Bundle came in so handy and were perfect for this project, and I still have heaps of it left!!  Woo!! Hoo!!
Thank you for visiting and for any comments you may care to leave.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your day.  Take care and God Bless.
