Blank Canvas

This was a work of love, a blank canvas, so to speak!

I covered the front of what was a plain canvas, with Meg's Garden papers and inked around the edges.
Next, I hand sewed pearl beads to an old doily which was then glued in place.

The main feature is the gilded metal oval frame. The whimsical picture of a pensive lady suited this perfectly. A fancy glitter die cut completed the look.
The frame was secured to the canvas, and adorned with beautiful fabric flowers, ribbon and pearls.

For the full range of flowers, ribbon and other decorative items, excellent for vintage work like this, be sure to visit Meg's Garden!

Male Vintage Birthday

One of the (many) things I love about Meg's Garden collections, is that you can adapt the papers to suit any occasion - and gender.

From Meg's latest Junk Journal collection, I have made both a male and female birthday card - showing how easy it is, using the one collection, to create for both.
In this post, I am sharing the male birthday card.

In keeping with the deep browns and grunge feel of the collection, and wanting to make the background paper stand out, I kept embellishing minimal, instead using bold, heavy pieces with brass buttons and charms. I repeated the die cut sentiment in coordinating colours and papers. Simple, yet effective.

For texture, I added hessian ribbon, overlaying a strip cut from the Junk Journal papers.

I included an insert inside the card. Embellishing with Cut & Create designs on one side of the card and the opposite side of the insert - leaving ample writing room and space to personalise - or keep simple.

Trinket Box

I love trying to "think outside the square".

Even though I take great satisfaction in creating beautiful cards, once the event they were given for is over, the cards are placed away.

Why not create something useful and on display throughout the year for all to see? Thus, my inspiration for this box.

How many of us have gift boxes stashed in the cupboard taking up space and gathering dust?! The range of delightful floral pictures and mini paper flowers from Meg's Garden ideally suited my covered trinket box.

Picking various shades of pink, rose, fuchsia and rogue, I covered the box in textured paper and sealed with a paper sealer. The result, although protecting the paper, gave the feel and look of soft doe skin.

Each side of the box is different - a foiled frame with Cut & Create images adorn two sides, the back is an old fashioned crochet doily with a pearl centre. The front of the box features an elegant Vintage Journal Card image, which I have framed in an oval mirror.

The lid was given the same treatment as the box, this time using paper from another of Meg's Garden collections. Fancy cut edges and antique metal corners adorn the lid, complete with a large fabric flower and ribbon bow.

What a transformation!

A Decorative Folio

Hello everyone & welcome
Today I would like to share with you a decorative folio that I have created. This would make a lovely gift and could be used for writing or drawing.

The outer cover is made from chipboard, and has been covered with patterned paper and pieces from  cut & create sheets which are available from Meg's Garden online store.

The cover has also been embellished with die cut shapes, ribbon, lace, cheesecloth, a button & metal charm, seed beads, paper flowers, self-adhesive pearls as well as punched out paper shapes. There is lots of paper distressing using a paper distressing tool. I have inked the edges of the patterned papers with distress ink called walnut stain & Inka Gold: Gold was used on the edges of the chipboard cover for a touch of elegance.

Inside the cover there is a tea-stained envelope that has been embellished with a paper doily, lace, die cut & punched out shapes as well as pieces from the cut & create sheets.

With some handmade paper ready for writing or drawing this whole bundle of paper can be easily removed or individual sheets can be removed one at a time.

A decorated card with a tuck & a tag sit happily inside the envelope.

The back cover of the folio.

I hope I have inspired you to give this project a go.

Until next time.
Thank you so much for stopping by.
Have a wonderful day & happy creating.
