This blog post was supposed to showcase a 'Birdie Accordion Book' project but I am stuck so I pushed it aside & pulled out the 2 packs of mini papers from the Couture Collection, my box of cut ribbons, packs of lace, some beads & flowers & they just came together. Hopefully the Birdie Book will follow their example.
Denise Ann, the talented designer of the Couture Collection of papers is organising a blog hop for early July so she has asked me to do some projects using the Couture range for the hop - still have to figure out how to set up the hop on my blog but decided to get the projects done & then figure out the rest. Will advise the details of the blog hop.
Tag #1 is using an XL manila tag covered with 1 of the papers from Couture Pack #107 - the paper is called 'Elegance'. Pink organza & satin ribbons are tied in bows on the main tag, just the pink satin tied in a bow & accented with a beautiful pink bead on the small tag. The small tag is made by adding a punched tag of a corset (paper from Couture pack #108) mounted on black cardstock. I really wanted this tag to stand out & not blend into the main tag. Both tags had black scallop German scrap attached to the bottoms of the tags - the German scrap was lightly sanded & then distressed with Frayed Burlap - this gives it a beautiful vintage look. The main tag was then finished by adding some lace to the bottom, a flat velvet rose & a green leaf.
Hint: If your velvet flowers & leaves are looking a trifle limp, steam them lightly from the kettle spout & mould into shape.
Tag #2: An XL manila tag was covered with paper from Couture pack #108 - the paper is called 'Satin & Flowers' (save all scraps for making mini tags etc). A light coffee coloured ribbon , a bow of pearls & an ivory apple blossom flower were added to the top & a strip of lace, more ribbon & a green heart bead to the bottom.
2 smaller tags were created by punching out from Couture paper #107 pack. These were mounted on apricot cardstock tags. All tags & papers were distressed with Frayed Burlap - including the edges of the apple blossom flower. Another element was added by cutting out the Eau de Cologne label.
I had started with 3 small tags but it was too busy.
Tag #3: I rarely work with greens so I decided to push my limits & create a green tag. This particular paper is really elegant - it is called 'Embossed Silk & Satin'. A smaller tag was created by punching a tag shape from a green Couture paper & mounted on sage green cardstock. All papers were distressed with Frayed Burlap.
When it came to ribbons, I was in trouble. The green ribbons I had were totally the wrong shade. I had some of the black German Scrap used on Tag #1 next to this tag - absolutely perfect as an accompaniment to the Tag. Some of the German scrap was cut to fit, sanded & then distressed.
Black organza ribbon was tied in a bow on the main tag & then as a knot for the small tag; olive green satin ribbon was added to both the black organza ribbons & also as a strip on the top of the German scrap. Green pearls & a gilt butterfly charm completed the small tag. A beautiful green bead was added to the black organza bow & a black butterfly laser cut was folded & them glued to create a 3D effect

Three gorgeous tags completed. The same designs could very easily be used on a card (continue with more tags on the inside of the card or even in a pocket with words), on a scrapbook page with a photo & journaling & would be totally fabulous on a small canvas as an Off the Page Project - the designs are not limited. Maybe I should do a Birdie OTP project instead of the accordion book. I have some small canvases in my stash.
