You Are My Sunshine by Dana Tatar - English Rose Garden Layout

Hi friends! Dana Tatar here today sharing a layout that I created with the beautiful English Rose Garden collection. It is Fall in the United States so the deep greens and oranges present on several of the patterned papers in this line caught my eye.

I framed my photo with chipboard and flowers from my personal supplies and lots of fussy cut flowers and leaves from the Roses and Lace, Paisley and Roses, and A Bouquet of Roses patterned papers.

I embellished a strip of cardstock with leaves and flowers cut from the same patterned papers as listed above, plus pieces of Lace, Copper Trim and portions of a Square Paper Lace Doily. I topped this cluster with a chipboard bird from the Temptations in Blue Embellishment Bundle.

I finished the page with a metal butterfly charm and a clear title sticker.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Tag Album by Brenda

Hello everyone, Brenda here with you today and I would like to wish you a warm welcome to Megs Garden. I would like to share with you a Tag Album I have created for a special friends daughter, Miss Meghan. She is such a sweetheart and I have used some beautiful products from the Meg's Garden Store for the album.

I'm so happy with how it has come up and I have used some beautiful different ranges of patterned  papers and different flowers. Having two boys I love scrapping Meghan and being able to do girly things with flowers on them.

The patterned paper I have used on the cover of the tag is from the Butterfly Collection. The beautiful lace is so elegant and I placed a pearl bling in the center of each of the flowers on it. Elegance is what our little ballerina is all about. The flowers that I used on the cover tag is from the Velvet flowers and leaves range.  The large one is out of the  Delphinium Posy - Green Mauve and the smaller is a Viola Posy - pale pink.

Six beautiful little princess and ours is at the bottom left and there is so much in the Meg's Garden store to give these tags all the elegance that is needed.
The pattered paper on page 2 is from the English Rose Garden Collection. I placed a square lace doily on it and coloured it with Distress Ink - Forest Moss and it brought the stunning pattern out in the doily. Around the photo on the lace I placed some pearls. The butterfly I have cut from the from the butterflies transparencies sheet and each sheet has many to choose from.

Tag 3 I chose to use some more of the beautiful lace and also a brass ornate label which I chose to place Meghan's name in. The flowers on this side of the tag are The beautiful Fantasy Blooms and you get 11 different colour themes to choose from and in the pack they range from small to large. I just love these flowers. The Fantasy Blooms I chose are - Blue. The other flower is a Fabric Bloom - Cornsilk and the fabric reminded me of some of the fabric on the beautiful tutus. I finished the outside edge with Gold Liquid Pearls.

The pattern papers are from the English Rose Garden Collection.

The pattered papers on the 4th tag page is from The Forgotten Meadows page. Miss Meghan is second from the left this time in a beautiful modern ballet dress. The flowers I chose I feel go so well with her dress. The large flower is from the Velvet Flower range, Delphinium Posy - Antique Pink and the smaller is Carabella Rose Posy - Fairy Pink.  The shoe and title are fussy cut from the Put On Your Dancing Shoes paper.

The Ballet chippie is by Fab Scraps and I have coloured it with Copics and then on the word I used Glossy Accents and the the ballet shoes I used Kindy Glitz. The flowers are again Fantasy Blooms but this time it is the Rose I have chosen. The pattered paper I used to create this last tag on is from the Butterfly Collection. This is a lovely soft paper and perfect for the softness of the photo. The Lace love heart doily is stunning and I inked it with Distress Ink - Victorian Velvet. To finish off I have used the Liquid pearls again in a very soft pink.

I hope you have enjoyed my Tag Album as much as I enjoyed creating it and please call to the Meg's Garden Store. Also if you haven't already scrolled down then keep on going because the rest of the Design Team have created some wonderful crafty things for you to see and be inspired from.
From me and my family to you and yours, happy crafting and enjoy all you do and see in life and here on the Meg's Garden Blog.
See you again soon Brenda xxx

A Victorian Christmas Decor/Tableau

Hello Bloggers

I opened one of the new Victorian Christmas Papercraft packs & decided I would do something different with it.  Decided to do a decor for a mantle, an entrance hall table, a sideboard in the diningroom or wherever you want a touch of Christmas

Front view - I used grey/blue cardstock.

The panels at the back of the piece are 6" sq with a join in the middle. The panels in the foregound are 11.25" x 3.5" with a tab attachment at the end.  The whole piece folds up with a ribbon tie at each end of  the main back piece. The little lady in front is a separate piece with an easel back.  Cream cotton lace with antique blue velvet forget me nots, some green paper leaves & copper organza ribbon with a blue edge  are the only embellishments on the foregound panels.  The ephemera were chosen so that the sizes matched, somewhat, on each side

Close up of right foreground panel.

The back of the left back panel

The back of the right background panel

The middle 2 panels of the back of the decor

The Papercraft pack contains 6 pieces 5.4" square plus 6 matching/same strips 2" x 5.4" - all of them were used here - 4 on the front & 2 on the back. All or the images are included in the papercraft pack. There were several images not used - these could be made into tags, mini cards or used on a layout.

Hope this gives you some ideas for decorating the house or office for the Holiday season.

Bye for now

A Quick & Easy Christmas Planner with Folders

Hi Bloggers

The Christmas Shop on the website is now OPEN & it reminded me that the Season is just around the corner.  Instead of having a pad with notes etc, I decided that a planning book would be ideal.

     Somewhere to list:

  • the menus, shopping list & recipes,
  • ideas for quick snacks & the supplies needed for the pantry; also some new recipes
  • gifts to also include Kris Kringles
  • ideas for 'Thank You' gifts for invitations
  • and more
This book uses the NEW Vintage Christmas Papercraft kit - the papers are 5.4"sq so they make it easy for a 6" book.  I decided to do black cardstock since it is a planner & will be used a lot.  Highlight mats for the front & back cover were done in dark green cardstock.  I used lots of hinge clips.

Front cover is kept simple & has no embellishing except for the green mat & a stamp.

A side view of the book shows the 3 folders with copy paper inserts.

Inside cover shows one of the patterned paper squares with its matching strip.  The strip is actually on the cover of the first working folder. All the strips were attached with foam tape so that notes, ideas, recipes etc. could be stuck in.
Make sure that you make the spine large enough to hold all - better to be larger than smaller.  This one is 2.25" & has plenty of room for expansion.
The cover & pages have been kept simple with little embellishments since it is a 'quick & easy' & also a working planner.
Page 2 has some paper in the hinge clip for quick notes - this paper is 3.4" & is part of the cutoffs of the paper inserts.  If you wanted to have lines on the paper, you could get a couple of the cheap exercise books at the newsagents.

There are 3 folders of paper - I chose 3 but you could easily add more.  The black cardstock is cut into 6x12", marked with a pencil at centre & then scored 0.5" from centre on each side - result is a 0.5" gutter which, when the book is finished, is then glued to the inside of the spine. The white copy papers are folded in half & then cut 5.5"sq.  I cut the outer edge last so that the papers aligned. This pic shows the inside of the first folder & its paper sheets along with a magnet to mark a place to come back to or where an idea needs to be finished.

The folded magnet

Another magnet holds some cheesy snacks pics & menu

Another magnetised clip hold more menus & the opposite strip holds tags.

On the left is the back of the first folder with space for pics, ideas, pages from a catalog or recipes.  On the right is the front of the second  black folder.  The folders hold the note paper - I used rubber bands but you could use crystal stretchy cord for jewelry or a very thin elastic cord.  You can see the rubber band down the middle.

Inside the second folder - the left side is a clip holding paper for quick notes, a 'to do' list or a shopping list.  The right side shows the inserts of the 2nd folder.

The inside back of the second folder has a large pocket with a clip

On the left is the back of the 2nd folder with a strip for a pocket.
The right shows the front of the 3rd folder

Inside the 3rd folder - note clip & papers  & paper insert.  A little bit of fussy cutting of one of the ephemera & some tags.

The inside back of this folder with another pocket & more note papers in the clip

The back of the 3rd folder with another pocket.  Inside the back cover is kept simple

The back cover & spine with some deco on the spine.

You could add a closure to this book or a band to keep everything inside.

The idea for this planner came from a YouTube video of one of my favourite paper artists - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gj3BJAd9Dak
Hers was full of fussy cutting & very fancy & not simple but a great idea - she made file folders with tabs.

You could easily make a mini planner using any kind of paper.  It would also lend itself to being full of notes from guests at a special party with pics from the party, a menu, guest list...  a baby shower, wedding shower, 21st birthday - lots of occasions.
