The Birds and the Butterflies

Hi Everyone,

I have for you today 3 more cards using the stunning Shades of Green collection and Ephemera sheets. This collection is proving to be wonderfully versatile and perfectly suited to any occasion or themed card.

For something a little different, I embossed one sheet from the collection and lightly went over the raised areas with ink to bring out the design and compliment the overall look. Both the roses and butterfly are cut from the ephemera sheets and I added pearl trim and ribbon to the butterfly - height and dimension is a favourite technique of mine. Finally, for a little glitz, I finished the card with glitter, highlighting the detailed ephemera cut outs.

Aren't these birds just adorable? Using one cutting die set, I die cut the large heart, and with a smaller heart I then cut out the two birds from inside the same heart. To make the birds the main feature, I adhered them back in the same place, but raised with mounting tape and ink around the edges. A complimenting sentiment and charms finish off a simple yet effective card.

Using the green and gold ribbon as my inspiration, I created an oversized bow and paired it with the lovely Paris ephemera design and flowers. I then used another sheet from Shades of Green and shiny gold card stock to bring it back to the ribbon inspiration. A very quick card to make, but the finished look is delightful.

Thank you again for your wonderful feedback and comments.

Regards,
Julia

Do What You Love

Hello everyone! I hope that you are well. Today's post is a little bit different. These projects were completed toward the end of my school term. I was feeling stressed and needed to relax so I was colouring a little bit each night for some relaxation. I was also using this as an opportunity to practise my copic colouring as I haven't done any for ages. I had some practice images and I decided that one was good enough to use on a project. I played around with my distress oxides and before I knew it...a card had been created!

I used some of the Shabby Chic Background papers in my card and the sentiment of a Christmas stamp!

My second card is an elegant card which again uses the Shabby Chic papers. I have wanted to make one these card wrap cards for a while and decided that I would see if I had a suitable die in my stash and have a go and make one.

I had a Heartfelt Creations layered posy die which was originally designed to create a gatefold styled card and it was perfect for this card. I then die cut Memory Box Kensington Branch die along with the sentiment which is part of set from Tim Holtz Celebrate die collection. I needed to have elements that complimented the elegant swirls from the wrap portion of the die.
This middle section of the card lifts up as a top folding card so that you can write your sentiments inside.

Two very different projects completed using the same paper collection but created just for the purpose of enjoyment!

She Loved Flowers, Birds and a good hand of Cards

Hello Mary back again to share another layout with the gorgeous Shades of Green Range.
I wanted to use this beautiful Pattern Paper as my Mum Loved birds, so I immediately thought of her.

She loved Flowers, Birds and a Good Hand of Cards

How beautiful is this pattern paper ! I received my order of the dies and was keen to use them as well. This die has two in the pack and I used the smaller framed scalloped oval frame for this layout. I can see myself using this die a lot, they are a good size and will also be great for using to create cards as well as layout.

I have placed a little doily under my photo and frame and added a cluster in the corner. Flower , ribbon, dodo vine, circle filigree, salt mesh ribbon , doily  and dragon fly charm are all from Megs store. I fussy cut the "admit one and Play from the cut and create sheets from Megs .

"Fly Free " I fussy cut from the cut and create sheet . To finish the layout I placed the corner droop with loop in opposite corners of the layout and some pastel enamel drops

Also I added a tag from the cut and create sheet that I tucked in the side of my layout for my journalling

made a bow the narrow ribbon to pull the tag out by

Thanks so much for calling by, I hope you take the time to pop over to the Store to take a look at the beautiful products available to create with.

Happy Creating

A Fairy Album

Hello Bloggers

This little book was started using Shades of Green Book Papers.  Then a set of the Fairy B&W Cut & Create Papers was put on the craft table & looked irresistible to play with.

Originally they were there for a card but who can resist a mini book with no embellishing.

The result is a video of the pages:

A Fairy Book

Products used

Printed & Digital Book or
Mini Album papers:

Shades of Green Paper Collection
Ivory & Sage green cardstock, Vellum

Fairy Cut & Create B&W Papers
Butterfly Transparency
Fairy Transparency

Paper flowers - wild rose, puffy flowers,
mini blooms, sm roses, daisy, mini rosebuds,
sm roses, apple blossom, green leaves.

Laces, ribbons, vintage trinkets & charms, pins of jewels

Dies - fairy m3135, elegant lines m242,
waterfall 1 m376, curls & flourishes m304

Silver sparkle Nail Polish
Cotton balls to sit behind curved butterflies

The paper on the cover was from my stash from Thailand

Hope this gives you some ideas.

Other Notes:

The silver nail polish was in the sale bin at the chemist for $2.95 - I had tried all the other sparkles things I had & none of them worked the way I wanted. Will it work?? Yes, it did!! & what a great price.  Now I have to find a gold one.

The nail polish was used on vellum, cardstock, charms & paper flowers & leaves. Also on some of the Fairy Cut & Create images.  A very thin layer added the right amount of sparkle, while a thicker layer was needed on the charms

Never stop thinking outside the box.

The Fairy on the cover & the paper butterflies on other pages were molded & rounded over my thumb.  I then glued 1/2 a cotton ball underneath to keep them rounded.

Pins of Jewels were used as Fairy Wands

Bye for now
Meg

SHADES OF GREEN COLLECTION LAYOUT WITH GATE FOLD CARD & BOOKMARK

Hello everyone,

Firstly, I am here to today to share with you how you can use the Shades of Green Collection 5x7 pack to form a special layout.

I have joined 4 pages, together with a bit of fussy cutting.

The cut and create sheets are fantastic with beautiful images.

And here is the final result.  I did 'tea soaked' the wording.  Meg's Garden paper is nice and strong for this procedure.

Next I was playing around with a 'Gate Fold' card and the Shades of Green Collection.  This collection has beautiful images to suit any type of card that you wish to make.
I tend not to throw anything out :) and used the Shades of Green leftover die cut to encircle the gorgeous flower and clock image.

I then used the cut and create lady image to form a Bookmark to insert in the little pocket that I made.

Back view, you can either  have it as a bookmark or a space to write your sentiment on.

Finally here is the closed card.

Thanks for taking the time to view and be sure to check out these beautiful papers HERE
Until next time.......Happy creating......Liz

Take time to love the little things...

Hello fellow bloggers...
I have been absent for a while and for that I apologise.  I have been working a lot recently however I have taken time for myself, over Easter, to get into my craft room and create for Megs' Garden.
It's my first time using the Shades of Green Collection, that all the other talented ladies have already showcased on Meg's blog, so here are the cards I have had the chance to play with over the Easter weekend.
With the Card Artists' Packs/Mini Papers, I have used the Blue Tits background paper in the centre of some of the layered Shades of Green background papers.
One of the dies I have purchased recently is the Branch with Flowers die, I have used this in two different shades of sage green along the edges of this card. Placing a single French White Open Rose in the corner on some white satin ribbon on a bed of white tulle. Here are some close ups...

My second card, uses the pale roses background paper from the Shades of Green Collection.  With a heart doily and heart die, from the Hearts - Nestled Stitched Dies, I have lined the right hand side trying to show as much of the background paper.  I have used the branch with flowers die again, however I have cut the die into three pieces shoot out of the Filigree metal flower embellishment that I have centred with white mini rose buds
I also purchased a variety of gorgeous coloured enamel dots.  So with the perfect colour matching enamel dots I have highlighted the corner of the background paper. Here are some close ups...

On my final card of this blog post... I have used the time piece background paper from the collection. Using another beautiful die called Tender Greens, I have created a bed for a single French White Open Rose along with little leaves from the Branch with Flowers die, some basic sewing thread and a little "Take time to love the little things" sentiment card from the poetry cut and create ephemera sheets.  I have used a touch of lace around the edge to the flower for an element of something different.
Once again I have highlighted the corner with some pale mint green enamel dots. Here are some close ups...

I hope you love what you see and it has inspired you to create from these absolutely stunning products from Meg's Garden website.  Below is a couple of cuts outs of the Branch with Flowers die...

Take Care

SHABBY CHIC BACKGROUNDS, ENAMEL DOTS AND DIES

Hello Mary here to share some cards I have been working on with the Shabby Chic Backgrounds card pack. The colours are so soft , pretty and romantic.

Everything I have used to create my cards can be found in Megs Store. I love this die , which is called lattice and circles  , it is so versatile and I purchased the pastel enamel dots that work beautifully with the shabby chic papers, but there are all the colours available in the store.  The background is a soft pink and white polka dot patten.

This card the Background is lovely shades of green, so I chose embellishments with green hues. The ladies dress has touches of gold in her green dress , so I added the green and gold ribbon and also added white lace under the lattice and circle die. I used the pink enamel dots to compliment the flowers and die cut and used a organza ribbon for a touch of softness. The image of the lady and the Dream sentiment can be found on the cut and create sheets.

My last card the background is shades of mauve and once again I have used the Lattice and circle die ( told you I liked it ) I then used images I have fussy cut from the cut and create sheets and added the enamel dots and a sheer green ribbon on my fussy cut rose.
Thank You for calling by and if you have a special person that you would like to create a beautiful , unique card for , especially made by you, visit Megs Store for beautiful supplies.
Happy Creating

Charming Trio

Hi Everyone,

I have another three cards to share with you today, using the new Shades of Green Collection, Card Artist Packs 1 & 2 and Ephemera sheets.

Within each design, I have included a little metal charm for added detail, and also something a little different. They are not at all too heavy, easy to adhere. and sit wonderfully on the card.

Matching the ephemera cut out with the paper design, I cut out the floral image and mounted it, to be raised on top of the paper to create dimension and depth of the same design. With a die cut in between, I then added the green ribbon to bring the smaller cut out forward and stand out. The butterfly, also from the ephemera sheets, is mounted with tulle for extra flight.

Using another die cut, I framed this ephemera cut out and slightly recoloured with distress ink. Using the same ink, I stamped corner details to complete the look. To bring attention back to the rose design on the paper, I made a small ribbon bow to make it look as if the rose was dimensional. Finally, a perfectly fitting sentiment from the ephemera sheets. It is a lovely rose, isn't it?

For my third card, I used several layers of the Shades of Green papers, mounting them and also distressing the edges. I decided to keep the embellishments minimal, instead opting for one large flower embellishment with added feathers and beaded trim. I finished off by adding hints of glitter on the flower and also around the lady ephemera design. I am sure she would love the twinkle in her hat.

Best wishes until next time,
Julia.
